Thursday, July 4 at 17:30, at Palazzo Collicola’s piano nobile, the books Leoncillo. Materia radicale 1958-1968 and Piccolo Diario, published by Skira and Galleria dello Scudo, will be presented.

Leoncillo Leonardi, one of the most important sculptors of the twentieth century, was born in Spoleto in 1915 and died in Rome in 1968.

The books are the result of almost two years of work and were published by Skira on the occasion of the anthological exhibition held between December 2018 and April 2019 at Galleria dello Scudo in Verona: Materia Radicale 1958-1968.

The first of the volumes, the real catalogue of the exhibition, the most documented, extensive and exhaustive monograph that has appeared so far on the artist, includes numerous critical interventions and bio-bibliographic texts (including Enrico Mascelloni, Martina Corgnati, Marco Tonelli, Fabio Sargentini, Lorenzo Fiorucci, Laura Lorenzoni, Elena dalla Costa). The second is a precious publication of exceptional scientific and bibliographical interest: the complete, transcribed, revised and annotated anastatic copy of the Piccolo diario, the most important poetic text by Leoncillo.

The presentation of the volumes, introduced by Marco Tonelli, Artistic Director of Palazzo Collicola, includes speeches by the curator of the exhibition Enrico Mascelloni, Fabio Sargentini, owner of the Galleria L’Attico in Rome, who worked with Leoncillo from 1957 to the year of his death, and art critic Lorenzo Fiorucci, who edited an unpublished study on Leoncillo’s correspondence with some of the most successful critics of the time, including Longhi, Arcangeli, Brandi.

After the presentations that took place in May at the Galleria dello Scudo in Verona and L’Attico in Rome, this one in Spoleto, third and final, represents the homage that Leoncillo’s hometown pays to his most famous and worldwide appreciated artist.

The presentation will also be enriched by readings from the Piccolo diario performed by actress Elsa Agalbato.

Mezz’ora dopo la chiusura, an event by Sistema Museo, returns Friday, July 5, 2019 at 19:30 with a walk in the city dedicated to contemporary art.

The theme of the meeting will be “that unique experiment that was, in 1962, the exhibition Sculptures in the City. The event, which made Spoleto a leading protagonist in contemporary art scene, will be narrated through a walk in the old town during which the sculptures still in situ will be illustrated.

The evening ends with a tasting of typical local food.

On the occasion of the exhibitions The intentional re-use of Roman worked stone in the Lombard period and Manual Intelligence: Craft Production and Techniques in the Lombard Period included in the project Longobardi in vetrina by the Associazione Italia Langobardorum and with the contribution of Mibac, the City of Spoleto and the City of Campello sul Clitunno, Sistema Museo offers a program of free activities, guided tours, urban trekking and activities for families, aimed at spreading the knowledge of Lombard culture.

From Sunday, April 7 to Friday, October 4, 2019, eleven events are scheduled that allow you to deepen many aspects, from the techniques of metalworking, customs and traditions, to the intentional reuse of ancient material by the Longobards, thanks to the precious artifacts exceptionally exposed in the rooms of the National Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto.

MUSICA AL RIFUGIO is a unique experience, in which the attendee is enveloped in continuous care and attention. An emotional flow – carried in particular by MUSIC, but also by words, images, flavours, details and surprises – caresses his soul, enriching and regenerating it. And this from the beginning until the end of the performance.
MUSICA AL RIFUGIO is an emotional spa.

Alongside the 62nd edition of the Festival dei Due Mondi, SPAZIO MUSICA AL RIFUGIO proposes six events featuring Egidio Flamini, with his music and his thoughts, and two artists with whom he shares language and sensitivity, mezzo-soprano singer Elisabetta Pallucchi and actor Graziano Sirci.
