The workshops, entitled Discovering Nature are held every Wednesday until 27 June, from 16.30 to 18.30, at Il Carillon nursery school, in Viale Martiri della Resistenza.
It is a path of discovery of the environment that includes excursions in the little “didactic wood”, the garden surrounding the school, for the collection of aromatic herbs and wild herbs. These experiences will then be graphically re-elaborated and become the common thread of narratives and stories. The workshop is free of charge and open to all children from 5 to 10 years old.

From the French seigniory of Champeaux to the building of the castle on the banks of the Clitunno creek, the history of the lineage will be retraced with the help of literary sources written by some illustrious personalities of the family.

The Palazzo Collicola Visual Arts’ temporary exhibition’s finissage will take place on Saturday 17 March at 12.00.

From 12.00 to 14.00 the exhibition’s will offer free admission.

The 27th International Dance Competition will take place from March 18th to March 24th, 2018 at Spoleto’s Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti.
The International Competition is an important display for young dancers and future artists. The competition includes the following sections: classical soloists, modern-contemporary soloists, pas de deux and choreographic composition. The jury, composed of famous choreographers and dancers from all over the world.
Under the general direction of Paolo Boncompagni, the artistic direction of Irina Kashkova and the honorary chairmanship of Alberto Testa, the International Week of Dance has become an unmissable event, participated by young dancers from all over the world. It is the only Italian event of its kind to be part of the International Federation of Ballet Competitions, that gathers the best international dance competitions on the basis of their artistic quality and successful organization.

Sistema Museo, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Spoleto, proposes the 7th edition of Famiglie ad Arte, the didactic project for children and their families.
The four scheduled workshops will each be centred on a particular artistic technique and will take place at Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive, allowing participants to spend a pleasant afternoon in the company of specialized operators. Families will be stimulated by fun and activities that will develop creativity and manual skills. The fun continues with the creation of a piece of work that will turn into a precious memory of the experience.

The event is dedicated to one of the artists who most influenced contemporary sculpture, US artist David Smith.
A documentary, directed by Giovanni Carandente, will illustrate that extraordinary time (1962) when Spoleto was “invaded” by Smith’s 26 sculptures, created during the period he defined “the greatest and most prolific of my life”.

LECTURAE DANTIS 2017
From 6 October to 21 December at the Public Library, Palazzo Mauri
After the success of the last years, the integral reading of Dante’s Divine Comedy resumes from October 6 to December 21, each Friday afternoon at 17 by the Public library in Palazzo Mauri; this leg includes the reading of 11 cantos from the Paradise, from the XIIth to the XXIInd.
Readings will be by actor Claudio Trionfi, with comments by academics co-ordinated by professor Rodney John Lokaj.
During the event, (October through December) some editions of the Divine Comedy owned by the Public Library will be on display, including the 1484 Venetian incunabulus commented by Cristoforo Landino (1424 – 1498).
Nine cycles of reading have already taken place, that featured the first two canticas, and Hell’s first 11 cantos. The experience shows the modern interest in Dante and his work.
Lectura Dantis is a specific form of divulgation à haute voix, historically well defined and codified, which originated in the XIVth century thanks to Giovanni Boccaccio, and evolved through the ages, yet respecting the traditional interconnection between verse reading and exegetical comment.

The LXVI Week of Study on the Early Middle Ages, organized by CISAM, will be held from 5 to 11 April 2018 at Albornoz Palace Hotel. This year’s theme will be Migration in the Early Middle Ages.
The lessons will focus in particular on three themes related to migration: Ethno-anthropological Aspects, Migratory Processes and Transplantations and Sedimentations as a Result of Migrations that characterized the period under study.

Becoming conscious parents
La Tana del Ludo centre for children and families organizes workshops addressed to children from five to ten years old.
The workshops, entitled Discovering Nature are held every Wednesday until 27 June, from 16.30 to 18.30, at Il Carillon nursery school, in Viale Martiri della Resistenza.
It is a path of discovery of the environment that includes excursions in the little “didactic wood”, the garden surrounding the school, for the collection of aromatic herbs and wild herbs. These experiences will then be graphically re-elaborated and become the common thread of narratives and stories. The workshop is free of charge and open to all children from 5 to 10 years old.

From Wednesday, October 11, 2017 the #Spoletolegge reading group’s meetings will be held every Wednesday at the Library of Palazzo Mauri, at 9 pm. The event is organized by Carducci and Carandente libraries in collaboration with Andrea Tomasini.
This year’s readings program is entitled Not as it seems, and will be dedicated to crime and mystery stories.
Readings will be in Italian.

Sistema Museo, in collaboration with the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Spoleto, proposes the 7th edition of Famiglie ad Arte, the didactic project for children and their families.
The four scheduled workshops will each be centred on a particular artistic technique and will take place at Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive, allowing participants to spend a pleasant afternoon in the company of specialized operators. Families will be stimulated by fun and activities that will develop creativity and manual skills. The fun continues with the creation of a piece of work that will turn into a precious memory of the experience.

The Middle Ages? Again?

Conversation with Enrico Menestò, President of the Italian Study Centre on Early Middle Ages, and Franco Cardini, professor of Middle Ages’ History at the Scuola Normale Superiore.
The event is included in Le Quattro Stagioni – Primavera a Spoleto, and is organised by the Foundation of the Italian Study Centre on Early Middle Ages.
Among the activities planned for the recovery of the old footpath from Rome to Loreto, that dates to the Middle Ages, the Spoleto CAI section proposes a hike from Silvignano to Eggi along the Via della Spina and the Sentiero degli Ulivi (Olive Groves’ Trail).
In the afternoon it will be possible to visit the churches in Eggi with professor Romano Cardella.

The cultural association ArteInfusa will lead a stroll in the nature, to discover forest biodiversity and the officinal uses of spontaneous herbs.
The start will be at 9.30 from the church of San Pietro, and the group will head out to the Giro dei Condotti and the church of San Ponziano. The group will then return to the city centre, to have lunch at the Osteria del Matto; menu includes dishes based on spontaneous herbs.
Participants are advised to carry their water and use comfortable clothes and shoes.
Participation is open to Artinfusa members; the 30-€ participation fee includes lunch; if you’re not a member, you can purchase the 5-€ membership card on the spot, valid for 2018.
