The opening of the exhibition Ossa, featuring works by Alberto Emiliano Durante, will take place on Sunday, September 16 at 18, at the ADD-art gallery in Spoleto.
Ossa is a project on which the artist has worked for more than a year and which will be shared with the public for the first time. A research on ‘primitive’ materials, marble, wood and iron, which have always shaped idols, warriors and temples: archetypes that Durante explores in a contemporary key.
The value of the archetype and testimony of Durante’s works is confirmed by the genesis of the project: “While I was crossing the woods of Calcata I found numerous broken bones of animals. Looking at the white bones that emerged among the vegetation and trees, I perceived their purity and value as archetypes. It seemed that they were there to witness the passage of a past life, of an event that had taken place. The end and the beginning of a new path”. Ossa (Bones) is therefore the title chosen for this project, because it refers to the load-bearing structure of the individual, to what remains even beyond life, but also and above all to one of the first materials manipulated by Man for ritual and artistic purposes.
This new creative rite, primitive but permeated by a completely contemporary creativity, lives again today in the premises of ADD-art and will remain open until November 30.

A special event of the Libro d’Ingresso cycle of shows, which marks a further stage in the artistic collaboration between actor, director and writer David Riondino and musician Fabrizio De Rossi Re.
The show, which was scheduled as part of The Four Seasons – Spoleto Summer, will be held Thursday, September 27 at 21:30 at the Sala Pegasus. Il Dio Denaro is a national premiere, in which Riondino will tell, through a series of reflections, the curious relationship between Money and God, as it manifests itself in our time.
“The theme recently reappears in political anthems, it is evoked by popes, in short it gets around. A few years ago I happened to begin to gather clues about what seems to be the announcement of a new syncretic religion, or rather the awakening in new forms of an ancient God. If I have seen right, we would be at the beginning of an Era: in which case the data collected could be used for future exegetes, documenting the origins of the Era itself. In short, the famous problem of how the Era was. It was how it is, you could say…”.
The path of study, research, reflection and analysis that led to the writing of “The Money God” is explained by Riondino himself.
“Money redeems you, it allows you to be part of a Communitas, through it you can enter into the meanders of a sophisticated planetary culture, as through Christianity, Socialism or Islam or Buddhism. We get out of the detail, in Spoleto we are connected with those who are in Hong Kong, Singapore, New York. Faith and prayer are unique.
And this prayer is signified by the return to the houses of the Altars.
Computers-altars, through the screens of which you can gamble on the Stock Exchange. I experienced that thrill, in order to get to know it. From the small temple of my house, an Apple, I interacted with a screen of the Stock Exchange. I bought part of the Suez Canal, and made my desktop out of sand and ships. I became part of Bulgari, I saw the jewels. I shared the sand, the jewels and the Red Sea with men and women of all ages who, somewhere, were handling with me the same invisible powerful substance. It can be said that I prayed, in some way, by pressing the buy and sell button: I shared a communion, participated in a significant and universal liturgical gesture: “buy and sell”, make the invisible visible and confirm your faith in the symbol that becomes Truth, in your Bank Account. Wasn’t it a sacred gesture at that point?”

PIETRO CONSAGRA – CONVERSATIONS
Mezz’ora dopo la chiusura, the event organized by Sistema Museo, waits for you on Friday 19 October 2018 at 19.30 at Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive.
The meeting will focus on Pietro Consagra, the great Sicilian artist of whom Spoleto boasts a rich collection thanks to his friendship with Giovanni Carandente: the famous art critic invited him, in 1962, to take part in Sculture nella Città (Sculptures in the City), the exhibition later defined by Consagra as “the largest international sculpture event ever held in a city”. Through the sculptural and pictorial works preserved in the Carandente Museum, we will retrace the career of the maestro, who donated to Spoleto the work that can still be admired today in one of the streets of the historic center.
The visit will be followed by an aperitif, thanks to the collaboration with Con Spoleto – the Spoleto hotel managers’ association.

As in past years, Spoleto’s Department of Culture organizes The fun before the theatre – as the children called it last year – the project of theatrical mediation held by the Cultural Association Il Teodelapio in the person of Lorella Natalizi, teacher of theatre for children.
The meetings are linked to La Domenica dei Sogni family theatre festival and will be held on the Saturdays preceding the Sunday shows, at 11 a.m. at the Municipal Library.
Through an image, a piece of text or a theatre play, the main theme of each show will be explored: friendship, relationship, diversity, insecurities, the desire for poetry.

Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive, from 27 October 2018 to 24 February 2019
Toru Hamada and Angelo Dozio
Opening: Saturday, October 27 at 12:00
TORU HAMADA – Anthological
The exhibition is curated by Gianluca Marziani and Italo Bergantini, and organized in collaboration with Romberg Contemporanea. After the placement in June, during the Festival dei Due Mondi, of one of his sculptures in Carrara marble in front of the Teatro Nuovo, today comes a large exhibition that tells us about his poetic and inspired painting … The life of Toru Hamada resembles the processing cycle of his art. First of all, one feels the atavistic bond with Japan, ascribable to a state of being that favours atmospheric silence, the firmness of the gaze, the discipline between body and spirit. At the same time, one feels the second homeland in Europe, first in Pietrasanta and then in the French countryside of Saint-Lubin-de-la-Haye, two places of solid culture that have welcomed both the man and the artist. Asia and Europe, two continents that today sum up in this Umbrian experience, in the heart of a Spoleto that has always conceived harmony between distant worlds.
ANGELO DOZIO – The discipline of constant doubt
Palazzo Collicola Arti Visive’s historical investigation continues among Italian artists who deserve a more exhaustive evaluation of their work over ten years. After Gianfranco Chiavacci, Gastone Biggi, Salvatore Emblema and Giuseppe Biasio, it is now the turn of Angelo Dozio with an anthological exhibition set up between the white rooms of the Piano Mostre and the noble furnishings of the Piano Nobile.
The exhibition is curated by Gianluca Marziani: “Reinterpreting the cycles of a long career, Angelo Dozio highlights a consistent value in the theme of transcendence. Technological intuition, the link with town planning and architecture, the implicit presence of sound, the clairvoyance of digital language are present, but in the end there’s a metaphysical suspension that emerges and surpasses the rest, an iconographic system that returns to the lines of the sacred cross, the curves of the Greek and Roman capitals, to the Florentine two-tone marble, to the plan of churches and basilicas, to the design of ideal cities… Dozio’s geometry goes beyond history and climbs into the values of the Absolute, where only painting can get, where design incorporates morality, where Beauty thinks beyond worldly contingencies.”

Art and flavours of the ancient Duchy of Spoleto
