Sunday 30 October along the Via di Francesco and the olive tree path. Departure from Eggi at 9 a.m.
The City of Spoleto joins the ‘National Day of Walking among the Olive Trees‘ for the sixth year.
The event, promoted by the National Association of Oil Cities, and this year included in the ‘Frantoi Aperti’ programme, with the aim of disseminating the culture of the olive tree and quality olive oil, the protection and promotion of the environment and olive-growing landscape, and the dissemination of the history of olive growing, will be held on Sunday 30 October.
This year’s walk will be a ring-route with departure and arrival from Eggi along the Via di Francesco and part of the olive tree path, passing through and stopping at Bazzano Superiore. Olive groves, fields, woods and scents of the Mediterranean scrub will alternate along the route, testifying to the respect for biodiversity that local farms show towards their land.
The 8-km, 3-hour route mostly insists on altitudes varying between 400 and 600 m above sea level, overcoming non-demanding differences in altitude, which make it well suited to hikers with a good basic preparation (suitable clothing is recommended).
At the end of the excursion, a tasting of local products organised by the local Circolo Arci will be offered to participants in the garden of the Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Eggi. The tasting will be enlivened by the notes of Mad Groove, a refined jazz blues duo.
The meeting point for the start, scheduled for 9 a.m., will be in Eggi, at the bus stop in front of ‘Villa de Pazzi – Morelli’.
Participation is free of charge but subject to reservation by calling +39 0743 218620 or emailing info@iat.spoleto.pg.it (places for the tasting are limited and only those regularly registered may attend).
In the event of bad weather, the initiative will be postponed and the new date for the Camminata tra gli olivi will be notified as soon as possible.
