The Teatro Lirico Sperimentale di Spoleto “A. Belli” inaugurates a series of seven Concerts of the 76th Debut Course Masterclasses, featuring the young soloists winners of the last two editions of the prestigious European Community Competition.
The first concert, scheduled for Friday 13th May at 4.00 p.m. at Sala Pegasus (in Piazza Giovanni Bovio) will celebrate Maestro Marco Boemi’s masterclass. In addition to the conductor and internationally renowned pianist, the young soloists of the Course will perform music by Johannes Brahms, Franz Schubert and Robert Schumann.
The concert will be dedicated to the late Spiros Argiris, the famous Greek conductor who died prematurely in May 1996. Linked to the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale, to Director Claudio Lepore and to Artistic Director Michelangelo Zurletti by a relationship of deep friendship and esteem, Argiris, for several years the Festival dei Due Mondi’s director, has participated for several seasons in the activity of the Lirico Sperimentale, including the specialization courses for orchestral professors, conducting, among other things, an unforgettable production of The Bat by Johann Strauss in 1990, with the little more than twenty-year-old Roberto De Candia and Sonia Ganassi at their debut and, in fact, with a young Marco Boemi as Master Collaborator.
After his death, in memory of the years spent in Spoleto and in virtue of his friendship with the Sperimentale, Mrs. Lena Argiris donated to the Institution the whole collection of Maestro Argiris’ scores and books, which are one of the most important documentary resources of the Sperimentale’s Centro Studi Belli-Argiris (whose inventory can be consulted at the following link https://www.tls-belli.it/centro-studi-archivio-storico/, or directly on site, by appointment, calling +39 0743.221645)
But, also to meet the demands of tourists and enthusiasts, this series of Concerts of the Sperimentale will continue, always at 16.00 and always at Sala Pegasus, on 28th May for Carmela Remigio’s masterclass, on 3rd June for Raffaele Cortesi’s masterclass, on 21st June with the famous baritone Renato Bruson, to continue on 26th June and 3rd July, at Villa Redenta, for Enza Ferrari’s and Roberto De Candia’s masterclasses, and then end on 16th July at the Pegasus with Marina Comparato’s end of masterclass concert.
All the concerts, with arias from the main operas by Giuseppe Verdi, Gioachino Rossini, Giacomo Puccini, Gaetano Donizetti, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and others, are designed for a diverse audience, suitable for young people and all those who want to enjoy a pleasant musical interlude in Spoleto, A “fuori opera” (OFF opera) that underlines, today more than ever, the cultural and social value of music and of all artistic forms, towards which the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale has shown interest and propensity for 76 years.
At the piano will be maestros Carolina Benedettini and Minjeong Kim, while the young voices will be: Elena Antonini soprano, Veronica Aracri mezzo-soprano, Sara Cortolezzis soprano, Oronzo D’Urso tenor, Elena Finelli soprano, Inna Kaluhina soprano, Maria Stella Maurizi soprano, Alessia Merepeza soprano, Davide Peroni baritone, Giacomo Pieracci bass, Matteo Lorenzo Pietrapiana baritone, Davide Romeo baritone, Elena Salvatori soprano, Antonia Salzano mezzo-soprano and Roberto Manuel Zangari tenor.
Admission to all seven concerts will be free, subject to availability.
