NICOLA PIOVANI – Music is dangerous
23 December, 8.30 pm
Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti
Event organized by the Festival of Two Worlds

NICOLA PIOVANI – piano
Marina Cesari – sax and clarinet
Pasquale Filastò – cello, guitar and mandoloncello
Ivan Gambini – drums and percussion
Marco Loddo – double bass

The composer, who won an Academy Award in 1999 for the music to Roberto Benigni’s movie La vita è bella, will perform with his ensemble, alternating new pieces with new arrangements of his best-known compositions; a show not only of words and music, but also of movie scenes and pictures by great artists such as Milo Manara who have drawn inspiration from Piovani’s scores.

A hymn to music because songs live in the air, they pass through our lives, they inhabit our dreams. The mark that a song leaves in time is something that escapes critical analysis, “one of the most irrational and convincing testimonies to the essence of the supernatural” as Piovani puts it.
