From June 1st, 2024, for the first time, visitors will be able to access the scenic tour on the top of the towers of the Rocca Albornoz in Spoleto: accompanied by expert guides, upon
reservation, it will be possible to walk on evocative walkways that pass through tunnels and ancient prisons. Visitors will be able to reach breathtaking views that embrace the entire area of Spoleto.
It will be possible to go from one tower to another through the ancient military walkways to access the interior of rooms where, thanks to special videos and educational material, the public will get to
know the history of the fortress and learn about the different activities that have taken place within its walls over the centuries.
In addition to allowing the exploration of rooms that have never before been opened to the public, the walkways of the Towers tell how life in the Fortress was at the time of its construction in the
mid-14th century, but also the life conditions of prisoners who were imprisoned there between the 19th and 20th centuries. Moreover, the tour allows to discover the story of the Via Flaminia and of
those – pilgrims, merchants, peasants, religious men, men-at-arms, travelers – who crossed it over the centuries. Once out of the rooms whose walls show numerous fascinating graffiti left by
prisoners, visitors – organized in small groups upon reservation – will go out onto the panoramic terraces, where they will discover from an absolutely unprecedented point of view the buildings and
landscapes that can be admired from above, starting from Monteluco to the Ponte delle Torri with the Fortilizio dei Mulini, from Spoleto Cathedral to the Teodelapio: each of these sites will be described by appropriate tools to enrich each participant’s experience.
This experience has been made possible thanks to funding from the Ministry of Culture as part of the “Major Cultural Heritage Projects” and the European Union, and acquired through the Region of
Umbria and the Municipality of Spoleto.
MODE OF VISIT AND RESERVATION
Thanks to Sistema Museo, it will be possible to visit the walkways of the Towers in groups of up to 13 people, in a tour lasting about an hour, as explained below.

The escorted tour is for groups of up to 13 participants and lasts about 1 hour. Mandatory booking by email: museoducatospoleto@sistemamuseo.it.
Meet at the museum ticket office 15 minutes before departure.
In case of adverse weather conditions, the tour service will be suspended at the sole discretion of the management.

On the first Sunday of the month and on free admission days promoted by the Ministry of Culture,
the fee for the Tour of the Towers is € 10.
Spoleto Card: Spoleto Card holders can purchase the Escorted Tour of the Towers at the Rocca
Albornoz-Museo Nazionale del Ducato di Spoleto ticket office for €8.
