The book and multimedia collection

The library’s collection counts about 110,000 units, including volumes, pamphlets, magazines, manuscripts and prints, of which about 19,000 units belong to the Fondo Antico. To this must be added the documentary section of the Multimedia Documentation Centre of the City of Spoleto, consisting of about 50,000 items including photographic prints, slides, negatives, photographic plates, postcards and films.

Characteristics of the material possessed: Basic non-fiction; reference works (encyclopaedias, dictionaries, directories, etc.); fiction; antique material. Antiquarian, rare and valuable material: manuscripts, parchments, incunabula, printed editions of the 16th, 17th, 18th and 19th centuries, maps, prints, architectural drawings, correspondence, posters and second-hand prints, exhibition catalogues, art editions, etc.; publications of local interest; degree theses; periodicals; children’s books; children’s games; CDs, DVDs; photos.

The book patrimony is all catalogued and can therefore be found by consulting the paper catalogues in the Library or – for the part catalogued electronically – by consulting the online catalogues: regional Opac / children’s Opac.
