Church of Saints Stefano and Tommaso
The church of Saints Stefano and Tommaso, commonly called Santa Maria della Stella, was lately turned into auditorium and location for important cultural events in town.
Built between 1786 and 1793 on a project by Battista Dotti, it is one of the best late XVIIIth-century neoclassical architecture evidences in the city. Inside, a wide, luminous hall highlights the presbytery and the apse, resulting in a peculiar, scenographic effect.
The precious stucco embellishments are also refined, and represent the only surviving decorations since the removal of marble altars and XVIIIth-century canvases, all transferred elsewhere.
Address: Piazza Garibaldi
