Consagra’s Sculpture returns to Via Salara Vecchia

After the return of Arnaldo Pomodoro’s “Colonna del viaggiatore” in  viale Trento e Trieste, another original item of the 1962 exhibition “Sculptures in The City. Spoleto 1962”, organised by Giovanni Carandente for the 5th Festival Of Two Worlds, will return to its original position.

It is “Colloquio Spoletino” by Pietro Consagra, presently at Palazzo Collicola, that will be placed above the steps of via Salara Vecchia, as it was meant to be. A base will be created for the work of art. For this reason, the walkway in via Salara Vecchia will be closed for two days. The relocation of the work should be completed in one or two weeks.

The relocation of the work of Consagra is part of a wider project of valorisation of the six sculptures of the 1962 exhibition still in the city.

Consagra’s is the last of the seven works from “Sculptures in The City. Spoleto 1962”, that will be returned in its original position. The others –  “La colonna del viaggiatore” by Arnaldo Pomodoro in viale Trento e Trieste, “Stranger III” by Lynn Chadwick in via del Duomo, “Spoleto 1962” by Nino Franchina, in via del Municipio, “The Gift of Icarus” by Beverly Pepper in Piazzale Roma, “Le Affinità patetiche” by Leoncillo  a Palazzo Collicola e il “Teodelapio” by Alexander Calder in Piazza Polvani, they are all where their authors meant them to stay, way back in 1962.
