This year, the Spoleto Festival of Two Worlds takes place from 26th June to 12th July and offers its public 17 days of great entertainment, with operas, concerts, ballets, recitals, plays, together with film festivals, workshops, conferences, meetings, awards, competitions, special events, with an attentive eye also to contemporary art.
At its 58th edition, the Spoleto Festival confirms its original character and the prestige of an important international event. A historic meeting place for different cultures, today it offers a consolidated showcase for great and emerging artists and, above all, is an unstoppable workshop of original productions.
Under the guidance of Giorgio Ferrara, in his eighth year as artistic director, the Spoleto Festival once again opens up its unique spaces where the great arts of the stage converge every summer from all over the world. A meeting that keeps the thread of dialogue between past and present, avant-garde and tradition, new generations and sacred monsters, remaining faithful to the quality and excellence of the proposals and opening its borders to all the most vital and interesting artistic expressions. Giorgio Ferrara dedicated these words to this year’s event: “An ancient appointment that is renewed, but never the same except in the places and in the love for what is beautiful. An appointment to find oneself in the sound of voices and music, to lose oneself in the cry of the swallows high above the squares, in these alleys of shade and sun.”
The Spoleto Festival has the support of those who strongly believe in the effectiveness and courage of culture. First and foremost, the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, which continues with conviction to invest in the Festival, the institutions of the territory – Regione Umbria, the City of Spoleto, the Chamber of Commerce of Perugia – which participate in the event in a spirit of close, fruitful collaboration, the private foundations – Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Spoleto, Fondazione Carla Fendi and Fondazione Roma Arte-Musei – new protagonists of Italian patronage, the banks – Banca Popolare di Spoleto of the Banco Desio Group and Casse di Risparmio dell’Umbria of the Intesa San Paolo Group – which give their precious support, the companies – in particular Eni, Monini, Mercedes-Benz Italia – which with considerable effort maintain their commitment to partnership and sponsorship, and the project sponsor Poste Italiane, which has joined the project this year. This year Rai renews its presence at the Festival with a Mediapartnership agreement, reserving specific programming for the event on RaiNews24, Rai Cultura (Rai5 and Rai Storia), RaiRadio 3, as well as on the portal www.rainews.it. with daily live connections, interviews and services.
The Festival continues to collaborate with prestigious Italian artistic institutions to achieve objectives of common interest in the field of entertainment: the Ravenna Festival, the Fondazione Teatro Coccia of Novara, the Teatro Metastasio Stabile of Prato. In addition, this year there is an international artistic twinning with the Beiteddine Art Festival with the aim of creating a common cultural platform for the Middle East and Europe.

The Spoleto Festival has continued to grow, becoming more and more an interpreter of our times, in the awareness and hope that art too must and can play its part. With this in mind, the Spoleto Festival also intends to make its contribution so that those who love art do not have to give it up, so that everyone can continue to cultivate their passions and be part of a virtuous circle that must not be broken. This is why, in addition to continuing to offer numerous promotions on the purchase of tickets and confirming that this year’s edition will also make 5000 tickets available to a less-favoured public at the price of €1, the Festival has decided to adopt a new pricing policy to ease the access to the event that has always been considered the most special and exclusive of the bill, i.e. the Final Concert, whose ticket prices will range from €10 to €70 for the gold sector. This is a “revolutionary” and concrete signal that places culture firmly at the centre of everyone’s lives.
