The 188th Spoleto Carnival features a series of appointments from Jan 31st to Feb 14th, including two parades.
Sunday, Jan 31st, the opening parade will stroll through upper Spoleto, starting from via San Carlo and going on along via Matteotti, piazza della Libertà, Corso Mazzini, via Tobagi, via Filitteria, Largo Gigli, via vaita Sant’Andrea, via Pierleone, via Cecili, Corso Garibaldi, arriving at Piazza Garibaldi.
Saturday 6 February at 21.00 at the Teatro San Nicolò there will be a representation of the comedy “Funeral Party” by Compagnia della Mandarina.
Sunday 7 February at 14.30, a second parade will start in viale Trento e Trieste, and stroll through via Marconi, via Repubblica, via Risorgimento, via Betti, to finish at the EMI Supestore. On the same day, a repeat performance of Funeral Party will take place at 17,00 at San Nicolò.
Three folk feasts are also on schedule for Tuesday 9 Feb, at the quartiere Circolo Acli in Baiano, at San Martino in Trignano and at the Scuola dell’Infanzia in Protte. They will all start at 14,30.
Last but not least, on Sunday, 14 February at 14,00 in Piazza Garibaldi, Corso Garibaldi and via dei Gesuiti, “Cane…Vale”, a competition to gather funds for the City Kennels. The event is organized in collaboration with CUMA Dog Centre and BOBAWASH, and will award the best dog mask, the best couple (dog/master– dog/dog), the Venus Prize (most elegant dog), and the Don Juan Prize.
