Spoleto, which is part of UNESCO world heritage list with the Basilica of San Salvatore , will participate from today until Sunday, February 21, at TourismA – International Exhibition of Archaeology, to be held at Palazzo dei Congressi in Florence.
Spoleto is present in Florence as part of the Italia Langobardorum association, which is the management structure of the UNESCO site “The Longobards in Italy. Places of power (568-774 A.D.)” including the municipalities of Benevento, Brescia, Campello sul Clitunno, Castelseprio, Cividale del Friuli, Monte Sant’Angelo, Spoleto.
The four-day event, now in its second edition, is dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of the historical, archaeological and monumental heritage and it is organized by the specialised magazine Archaeology Viva, published by Giunti Editore, in collaboration with FirenzeFiera.
The Exhibition Hall will gather local authorities, museum centers, cultural foundations, tourist destinations and tour operators.
The Italia Langobardorum association is sponsoring the meeting which will be held on Sunday, February 21 at 9:30 am in the Sala Onice, focusing on The Longobards from Italy to World Heritage: stories of archeology, integration and dissemination. Project manager Maria Stovali and architect Giorgio Flamini will participate as representatives from Spoleto.
It will be an occasion to present the serial site and the seven places composing it, as well as several projects and activities that the Association has developed and is planning to implement to enhance the UNESCO site and spread knowledge about Longobards’ history, traditions, curiosities and culture.
