From Wednesday April 13, 5 meetings on Spoleto’s cultural heritage

From April 13, at 5 pm, the National Museum of the Duchy will host 5 meetings with scholars and experts that will present some reflections, useful insights and ideas for debate on Spoleto cultural heritage.

During the first meeting the book “La Scuola di Spoleto. Immagini dipinte e scolpite nel Trecento tra Valle Umbra e Valnerina” (The School of Spoleto. Painted and sculpted images in the 14th century between Valle Umbra and Valnerina) will be presented. The author Alessandro Delpriori will talk about his book along with Andrea De Marchi, Professor of Art History at the University of Florence and Marco Pierini, Director of the Museums of Umbria. The research embraces the vast territory between Umbria, Marche and Abruzzo headed by Spoleto. The city was the Capital of the Lombard Duchy and maintained its function of political and cultural centre from the twelfth to the fourteenth century. The book reaffirms the importance of Spoleto in the 14th century’s art and history.

The National Museum of the Duchy thus initiates a project, much larger, which aims at making the Rocca Albornoziana a real cultural centre, an active player in city life, a place where people, ideas and projects come together in order to talk to each other and promote  a wider use of cultural heritage.

The cycle of meetings is organized in collaboration with ANISA, National Association of Art History Teachers.
