“Faced with the tragedy of the earthquake victims we made a careful assessment of the expediency of confirming the event La Spoleto-Norcia in Mtb and decided that such an event can be an opportunity to send a strong message of positivity and solidarity, closeness and support “, said Fabrizio Cardarelli, Mayor of Spoleto.

Part of the proceeds arising from the three-day event dedicated to the soft mobility, scheduled in Spoleto from September 2nd to 4th, taking place on three different cycling itineraries along a scenic stretch of the route of the former railway Spoleto-Norcia and along part of the Spoleto-Assisi cycle track, will be sent to the people affected by the earthquake in central Italy. Entertainment events initially included in the program, such as animations and concerts have though been cancelled.

Simone Montedoro, one of the leading actors of fiction Don Matteo, the former cycling champion Francesco Moser, the coach of the Italian national cycling team and sports journalist Davide Cassani will take part in the ride. More than 1,000 already enrolled in the event, attracted by the beauty of a path that recently won the Italian Green Road Award, called the most beautiful of Italy cycling routes.

Through this event, which attracts a large number of fans, we aim to give not only a symbolic and moral support but also practical help to the earthquake victims”
