A treasure chest of memories of today’s Spoleto to pass on to future generations: this is the “time capsule”, a box that will be placed under the floor of Piazza del Mercato, containing thoughts, objects, dreams and words telling our time and our city to the citizens of tomorrow.
Initially scheduled for Sunday, January 14th, the event, due to technical reasons related to the renovation works at Piazza del Mercato, has been postponed to Saturday, February 24th, when the Time Capsule, created by Teknocar company, will be placed under the floor of the square.
The box will then be opened after exactly 100 years, on 24 February 2118. A sampietrino made of brass – created by goldsmith Enrico Morbidoni – will mark the exact point where the capsule will be placed.
Soon it will be possible to deliver objects to be put inside the Time Capsule (at Palazzo Mauri’s ground floor). For those who wish, the object can also be signed, as a testimony for their loved ones. The aim is to give space to imagination and dreams, so that the story of our time can be as exhaustive as possible for those who will come after us.
The appointment is at Piazza del Mercato, on Saturday 24 February 2018.
