Saturday 22 and Sunday 23 September | Rocca Albornoz – National Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto – Archaeological Museum of Spoleto – Church of Saints John and Paul

On the occasion of the European Heritage Days 2018 with the theme The Art of Sharing, the Polo Museale dell’Umbria, the National Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto and the Department of Culture of the City of Spoleto in collaboration with Sistema Museo propose a programme of events aimed at enhancing the city’s museums and cultural heritage.

The event starts on Saturday, September 22 at 16:00 at the Rocca Albornoz, with a workshop for children and families, Get in the game with the Lombards, an exciting role-playing game, a challenge to discover the history and culture of the Lombard people.
The day continues with the chance to visit the Rocca Albornoz during extended opening hours, from 7.30 p.m. to 10.30 p.m. with an entrance ticket at the symbolic cost of € 1.00. Here, at 8.30 p.m. and 9.15 p.m., there will be a guided thematic tour dedicated to Masterpieces of the fourteenth century – from the Rocca Albornoz to the church of Saints John and Paul. A journey to the origins of Spoleto’s painting. The visit will cover the works on display at the fortress, to continue with a fascinating walk at night through the streets of the city’s historic center, ending with a visit to the church of Saints John and Paul.
On this occasion, the church of Saints John and Paul will remain especially open from 21.00 to 23.00.

The educational workshop at the Rocca Albornoz and guided tours at night on Saturday, September 22 are entirely free thanks to the support of the Department of Culture of the municipality of Spoleto. The programme of Sunday, September 23 includes guided tours of the exhibition Masterpieces of the fourteenth century – The worksite of Giotto, Spoleto and the Apennines.

Other initiatives linked to the European Heritage Days will be held at the National Archaeological Museum and at the State Archives of Spoleto, as part of the event Spoleto a Spasso nel Tempo.

Friday, September 21, at 6 pm, a meeting will take place at the State Archives of Spoleto focusing on 19th century Spoleto in the photographs of the Sordini Fund with Luigi Rambotti, director of the State Archives of Perugia and Prof. Leopoldo Bartoli. For the whole day of Saturday 22 September, the National Archaeological Museum of Spoleto and the Roman Theatre will be open until 11.30 pm for guided tours and possible theater performances. At 21.30. a Roman treasure hunt with three-dimensional objects.
On Sunday, September 23, at 18, exhibition of historical archery: The King of the shooters (challenge with arch and historical arrow).

On Saturday, September 22, meet at 4 p.m. at the Temple of Clitumnus (Campello sul Clitunno) for Once upon a time there was the temple, an educational activity for children, while at 9 p.m. there will be a guided tour The temple and the arts, sharing and suggestions. On Sunday, September 23, at 5 p.m., presentation of the restoration project financed, through Art bonus, by Meccanotecnica Umbra spa.
