FAMILY THEATRE – The art of soap bubbles by Michele Cafaggi

Michele Cafaggi and his art of soap bubbles opens the new season of Domenica dei Sogni, the family theatre festival designed by Vincenzo Cerami in 2009 to promote love for theater among the younger generations, now in its eleventh edition.

The first show is scheduled on Sunday, October 21 at the Teatro Nuovo “Gian Carlo Menotti”, at 16:30: Ouvertures des saponettes by and with Michele Cafaggi, winner in 2016 National Prize Franco Enriquez. A show for all, of great charm, created by the first artist in Italy who created an entire show dedicated to soap bubbles. The show currently has more than 1000 replicas; it was created in 2003 and was presented for the first time at the Museum of Science and Technology “Leonardo da Vinci” in Milan as part of the activities organized by the scientific laboratory of soap bubbles. He has been performed in national and international theatres and festivals (France, Ireland, Belgium, Switzerland, Greece, Japan, China, South Korea), in kindergartens, science museums, casinos, varieties and gala. It appeared in television programs such as “I soliti ignoti” on Rai 1 and “Circo Massimo Show” on Rai 3, “Mattina in famiglia”, Rai 1, “Bontà loro” Rai 1, Tg2, GT Ragazzi, Rai International, etc. …

Michele Cafaggi has performed in theatre since the early ’90s. He studied acting, circus arts, mime, clowning and improvisation theatre between Milan and Paris, and he has some experience in experimental theatre and company theatre.

Since 1993 he has performed as a street and theatre artist in Italy and in many other countries around the world, switching with ease from large international audiences to village parties, schools, theatres, hospitals, retirement homes, prisons and wherever there was the opportunity and pleasure to meet with the public. He is Dr. Sogno in the paediatric wards where the Theodora Foundation Onlus operates.

As in past years, Spoleto’s Department of Culture organizes “The fun before the theatre” – as the children called it last year – the project of theatrical mediation held by the Cultural Association Il Teodelapio in the person of Lorella Natalizi, teacher of theatre for children. The meetings will be held on the Saturdays preceding the Sunday shows, at 11 a.m. at the Municipal Library. Through an image, a piece of text or a theatre play, the main theme of each show will be explored: friendship, relationship, diversity, insecurities, the desire for poetry.
