Four events from Saturday 24 November 2018 to Saturday 12 January 2019

Deposito aperto is a program of thematic guided tours dedicated to getting to know an exclusive and priceless place of art, the Art Repository of the Municipality of Spoleto.
The program, supported by the Department of Culture of the City of Spoleto in collaboration with the Sistema Museo, provides for four extraordinary openings in the period November 24, 2018 – January 12, 2019, on Saturdays November 24, 1 and December 15 and January 12, 2019 from 15.30 to 17.30, with themed guided tours aimed at enhancing and deepening the knowledge of the collections of artworks housed in the repository.

The first guided tour, scheduled for Saturday, November 24, deals with The Coats of Arms, a vast collection of stone blazons of important noble families linked to eminent figures who have marked Spoleto’s history.

Saturday, December 1 focuses on The wooden furniture, the collection of statues and precious wooden furniture with gold carvings, an opportunity to speak about the rich production and skills of the masters of wood, who with their works enriched Spoleto’s churches and noble palaces.

The program continues on Saturday, December 15 with a guided tour on the theme The great masters of the 20th century. Moore, Calder and Burri, these are some of the great masters who created the works preserved in the modern art section of the repository.

It ends Saturday, January 12, 2019 with the theme Symbols and instruments of the City of Spoleto. The repository houses a collection of rare and ancient objects used for assembly functions in the communal era, such as ballot boxes, all objects from the Town Hall that are useful to learn about Spoleto’s governing bodies in past centuries.

At the end of the guided tours participants will be offered tea and pastries.

The entrance to the repository and the program of guided tours is free and open to all.
