After the inauguration in the presence of the Festival’s godmother Barbara Bouchet, the SpoletoFilmFestival entitled this year PLANET WOMAN: From women of History to women in the history of Cinema came to life.
In Spoleto – and in other Umbrian towns involved in the event – the movies and short films participating in the competitive section have been screened. At the end of each screening, directors and actresses met the public. Among the protagonists of the meetings Antonietta De Lillo, Letizia Lamartire, Giuliana Gamba, Virginia Barrett with actress Marcia Sedoc, Margherita Ferri with Eleonora Conte, Wilma Labate, Lidia Vitale, Maria Di Razza, Giovanna Gagliardo, Alessandra Cardone, Karin Proia.
The final days of the Event, Friday 14 and Saturday 15 December, will be characterized by a series of events: the special screening of the restored version of the movie È piccerella, by Elvira Notari (in Spoleto on Friday 14 December); the conference “From women of History to women in the history of Cinema” which will take place on Saturday 15 December at Palazzo Mauri at 10.00 am in two sessions: the first with historians, theologians, art critics, writers and philosophers. The second, focused on the female figure on the big screen, will see the participation of silent film historians, critics and experts in contemporary cinema as well as authors and actresses of the films in competition. Finally, the national premiere will include the screening of the Colombian film Mamá by Philippe van Hissenhoven, followed by the screening of the film Lasciami per sempre by Simona Izzo.
The kermesse will end on Saturday 15 December at the Hotel Albornoz in Spoleto with a gala evening presented by Chiara Del Gaudio and Pietro Pulcini with the participation, as guests of honour, of Sandra Milo, Simona Izzo and Ricky Tognazzi, Donatella Finocchiaro, Vanessa Gravina, Nadia Bengala and Veruska Rossi.
During the evening, the awards for the films in competition at the SpoletoFilmFestival and the Domenico Meccoli – ScriverediCinema awards, now in its 26th edition and dedicated to the great critic, screenwriter, director, founder of the SNGCI and director of the Venice Film Festival, were presented to journalists, writers and authors who distinguished themselves, in 2018, in the promotion of Italian cinema through the media (Maria Lombardo, Cinzia Terlizzi, Michela Tamburrino, Alessandra Magliaro, Francesca Pierleoni). The Carlo Tagliabue – Centro Studi Cinematografici prize for debut work (Tito e gli alieni by Paola Randi) and the Luca Svizzeretto Prize (Elisabetta Bartucca) will also be awarded.
The SpoletoFilmFestival is organized by AmaRcorD Cultural Association in collaboration with the City of Spoleto – Department of Culture, with the Experimental Centre of Cinematography and National Film Library, with the Centre for Film Studies and with the contribution of the Ministry for Cultural Heritage and Activities (MIBAC) – General Department for Cinema.
