Mario Praz (1896-1982) prose goes beyond the author’s vast life experiences, its marked, even abnormal traits allow for easy identification. This book deals with the substantial aspects of such vastness, the essays, travelogues, the development of his “The Romantic Agony“, and obviously, Rome.
Born in 1958, professor of Contemporary Italian Literature at the Università di Roma “Tor Vergata”, Raffaele Manica also authored a number of literary critics essays, co-directs Nuovi Argomenti mag and collaborates to “Alias”, il Manifesto’s culture supplement. With his Exit Novecento (Gaffi 2007) he was awarded the Premio Napoli della giuria while his overall works gained him the Premio De Sanctis. He curated il Meridiano by Alberto Arbasino and Enzo Siciliano.
