Included in the 2018-2019 Theatre Season, THE MASTER BUILDER by Henrik Ibsen, produced by the Orsini Company and the Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria, will be staged at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti in Spoleto on Thursday 28 February, at 9 pm.
The show, a production by Compagnia Orsini and Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria, stars Umberto Orsini and Lucia Lavia, as well as Renata Palminello, Pietro Micci, Chiara Degani, Salvatore Drago and Flavio Bonacci. The direction is by Alessandro Serra, who has just returned from the extraordinary international success of Macbettu, winner of the Ubu Prize 2017 as Show of the Year and the ANCT Prize 2017.
“For a very long time – explains Umberto Orsini – I have had a very strong interest in “Solness”. Paradoxically, the reasons for this passion lie in the awareness of the difficulties that this masterpiece by Ibsen can create for those who dare to stage it. It is the story of many murders. Young people who kill old people by pushing them to be young and old people who kill themselves in an attempt to reach the impossible youthful ardor. A story marked by a great erotic charge and an unscrupulous exercise of power. It is impossible to think of putting it on stage without having found a young female protagonist and a sensitive and visionary director. I am sure I found them in Lucia Lavia and Alessandro Serra and this is what drives me with confidence towards this new fascinating adventure in the hope of offering the public, who in recent years rediscovers the expressive power of the world of Ibsen, an almost forgotten piece of his genius. ”
You can book by phone, through the Teatro Stabile dell’Umbria call center, 075/57542222, every weekday, from 16 to 20. The booked tickets must be collected half an hour before the show, otherwise they are put back on sale.
