The Chamber Orchestra of Perugia, with Francesco Pepicelli on the cello, will perform on Sunday, April 14, at 17:00 at the Teatro Caio Melisso. The concert, named papà Haydn, is included in the program of Spoleto di Primavera (Spoleto in Springtime) and it will be dedicated to the great Austrian composer.

Franz Joseph Haydn, one of the most extraordinary geniuses of the entire history of music, has indelibly marked for over a century the subsequent developments of instrumental music. The Concerto n. 1 in C major for cello and orchestra, one of the most valuable of his twenty or so concerts, and the Symphony n. 104, the last by Haydn and the twelfth composed in England, are two wonderful examples, chosen by the excellent Umbrian performers for this concert.

The concert is organized by the Associazione Filarmonica Umbra (Umbrian Philharmonic Association), which is planning three more concerts at the Caio Melisso in Spoleto, dedicated to the music of Vivaldi (April 27th at 9 p.m.), Beethoven (May 11th at 5 p.m.) and Gershwin (June 9th at 9 p.m.).

Admission to the concert is free of charge, but reservation is required. The reservation does not entitle you to a numbered seat.

The Umbrian Philharmonic Association was founded in Terni in 1977 and inaugurated its activities in 1978, the year in which the first of the thirty-two seasons to date took place.
