The next three appointments of INVENT A STORY will be dedicated to the first ten years of IL MAGGIO DEI LIBRI!

Many among you now already that it is a national campaign started in 2011 with the aim of highlighting the social value of book as key feature of one’s cultural and civic growth.

SE LEGGO SCOPRO” (If I read, I discover) is the theme that was chosen this year by the Book Reading Centre, is articulated in three strands: Reading to discover oneself – Reading to discover the others – Reading to discover the world.

One of the best ways to discover who we are is to dive into reading, to venture into more or less familiar universes and question one’s ambitions, fears and passions, recognising oneself in the words of writers, taking sides with this or that character.

Starting from the first theme DISCOVERING ONESELF, this week we propose to your boys and girls to make stories in which they become the undisputed protagonists!

This time the “key words” will be chosen by your children, we will give an outline with characters to be inserted:

The protagonist → YOURSELF. You are the protagonist of your story, you can be anything you want, a real or fantastic creature,

The antagonist → a FEAR OF YOURS (i.e. fear of the dark, to be left alone, of a particular insect, of a place…). Your fear can also be a real creature or an imaginary one,

The helper → a QUALITY that distinguishes you or that you’d like to have, also conveyed through a real or an imaginary character.

Besides, you can include:

2️⃣

One or more HELPERS who will support you along the way,
One or more characters who’ll tend to hinder you,
Place and time description of the events.

Starting from this, children will be able to introduce their plots playing with their fantasy and imagination.

The story, in the form of a text (no longer than two pages in A4 format) or a comic strip, may be enriched with an illustration (hand-drawn or done with a graphic software) and must have a title. → advised age 6-10 yo.

Even the youngest can participate with their many-coloured drawings.

ℹ️

The texts produced will have to be sent to the following e-mail address: biblioteca.comunale@comune.spoleto.pg.it not any later than Monday 18 May.
Entries will need to be accompanied by a parent’s authorisation and a scan of an identity document authorising publication.

The submitted stories will be published on Wednesday 20 May and will be available on this page. All information will still be published on Wednesdays on the Facebook and Instagram pages of the City of Spoleto.

As always, we look forward to enjoying your stories and being enchanted by your colourful drawings!
