Also known with the name of “Onions’ Fair”, it represents the traditional meeting opportunity for citizens living in Spoleto’s area, and it takes place in Viale della Stazione and in the surrounding streets.

It is Spoleto’s biggest fair, where you can find all kinds of products, including (but not limited to) clothing, gastronomy, houseware and the most diverse gifts and knick-knacks.

Granted in 1598 by pope Clement VIII, it originally used to take place on 21 Aprile; in its occasion, special benefits and immunities were universally allowed, save for bandits and rebels. In 1664 it was postponed to 13 June, St. Anthony’s feast, maintaining all privileges.

Its dates in modern times are 8 and 9 September, the day of the Virgin’s nativity; it is not known when these dates were established.
