MAXXIS Italian Enduro Championship and Enduro Regional Championship

More than 200 participants in the MAXXIS Italian Championship in the Major category on Sunday 15 September, one of the two events to be held in the city of the Festival and organized by the Moto Club Spoleto in collaboration with CONI, the Umbria Region and the City of Spoleto. The other event is the Regional Enduro Championship with more than 50 registered participants.

The initiative was presented this morning at the Town Hall, at the presence of the city councilor and collaborator of the mayor for sports policies Massimiliano Montesi and the President of Moto Club Spoleto Daniele Cesaretti.

Montesi recalled that the racing events organized  by the Moto Club were all successful (for example the uphill speed Championship held in Monteluco or the Scrambler Trophy and Maxi Enduro) confirming the important role of the Moto Club also in terms of promotion of the territory and underlined how, thanks to the collaboration with the Environment Department led by Maria Rita Zengoni, these two races are also eco-friendly events that comply with the Kyoto protocol which provides for the planting of new trees and plants capable of eliminating atmospheric CO2 emissions deriving from the organization of Enduro races.

Technical manager Stefano Pagliacci provided details on the peculiar characteristics of the course and explained that the two races will share the dirt roads of the area south of Spoleto – in the Somma area – with the paddock and the area set up in Piazza d’Armi instead, inside the track-and-field plants.

The opening of the paddock in piazza d’Armi will be at 2.00 pm on Friday 13 September. On Saturday, preliminary and technical operations are scheduled in Piazza d’Armi, with a convivial moment at 8.00 pm. The start of the two races is scheduled for Sunday, September 15th at 8.30 am.

The race winds along a highly suggestive and spectacular mountain path, in the locality of Ponte Camerata and takes place on an 8-shaped circuit over three laps. For each lap, two special tests of cross and enduro are scheduled.

It is the seventh time that Spoleto hosts the race of the Italian Championship and each time the race has been awarded the title of “Competition of the Year”. But the top Italian competition is just an appetizer, an important test bench, waiting for the big event that the Moto Club Spoleto has organized for next June: the Enduro World Championship. After the success of 2017, an event defined by the experts of the ‘Campaign of the Year’, Spoleto is committed to live moments of great competitive spirit and participation, proposing itself as a splendid location for the most important world competition in the category.
