A tribute to the musical genius of Lucio Battisti, a festival of typical Italian cakes, a show on the 2016 earthquake in Central Italy, the Neapolitan musical and literary tradition starring Maria Rosaria Omaggio, the comic comedy by Maurizio Battista, a jazz festival, great dance, metaphysical literature and the genius of Edgar Allan Poe: these are just some of the many events, of the characters, stories and emotions that populate “Spoleto dʻAutunno”. Included in the thick program of “Spoleto d’Autunno” are also conferences, meetings, sport and hiking, to discover the beauty of the area.
Many musical proposals, starting from the tribute to Battisti with “Canto Libero” on Saturday 16 November at the Teatro Nuovo and the “Neapolitan Contaminations, feelings, smiles and melodies to tell Naples”, featuring Mirco Bonucci on guitar and readings by Maria Rosaria Omaggio on Sunday 6 October at the Teatro Caio Melisso. The musical program also includes three important jazz events: Nick the Nightfly on Friday 4 October at the Teatro Caio Melisso, Dock in Absolute on Friday 18 October at the Teatro Caio Melisso and Bosso and Girotto at the Teatro Nuovo on Friday 15 November.
Theatre proposals range from the comedy by Maurizio Battista “Dad, why did you do it?” (Saturday 30 November at the Teatro Nuovo “Menotti”) to the drama on the earthquake and its “inner seismicity” with “Terrae Motus / Motus Animae” by and with Maria Anna Stella of CUT Perugia (Saturday 26 October at Caio Melisso)
There is also dance and ballet with Le Cri (L’Urlo) at the Rocca Albornoziana (Friday 4 October) and the Swan Lake by the Moscow Ballet at the Teatro Nuovo on 14 November. The Sala Pegasus hosts a series of literary meetings thanks to the initiative of the Libro d’Ingresso and the reading of Metaphysical Stories (Friday 25 October) and of Edgar Allan Poe, between nightmare and poetry (Friday 8 November).
A whole weekend (1 to 3 November) with gastronomy and the typical quality products with the Dolci d’Italia, the national festival of Italian cakes and the Exhibition Market of Mushrooms and Herbs.
Sport and hiking appointments on the bill are: the Walk among the Olives on Sunday 27 October, the XVI Day of Urban Trekking (Thursday 31 October), the Rhythmic Gymnastics Championships (Sunday 13 October at the Palarota) and the Triangular of Football – tied to Legality Day – between the National Magistrates, National Prefects and National Awarded Merit of the Republic to be held at the Stadio Comunale on Saturday 5 October.
Space also for conferences and awareness-raising initiatives with the First Legality Day (Saturday 5 October) and the International Day against Violence against Women (Monday 25 November) and civil and military commemorations (Saturday 2, Monday 4 and Tuesday 12 November). The Prose Season and the Dream Sunday were also included in the calendar with Mezz’ora dopo la chiusura, by Palazzo Collicola.
