Antepenultimate appointment from the twelfth season of Theatre for Families “La domenica dei sogni” – conceived to attract new generations and families closer to the magic of theatre; the show “Becco di Rame” is staged on Sunday 26 January at 16.30 at the Teatro Nuovo Gian Carlo Menotti by the “Teatro del Buratto” company, is taken from the book by Alberto Briganti, adapted for the stage by Ira Rubini and conceived and put down by Jolanda Cappi, Giusy Colucci, Nadia Milani, Matteo Moglianesi, Serena Crocco.
Becco di Rame (Copper Beak) is a true story. The story of a Toulouse goose that one night, to protect the farmyard and the chicken coop, in a furious fight with a fox, loses the upper part of its beak, a life-threatening condition. But a veterinarian, Dr. Briganti, has a brilliant intuition and creates a copper prosthesis that allows her to continue living a normal life despite the acquired disability.
The story starts when “Copper Beak” is still a chick and brought to the farm where the whole story takes place, to meet other characters: the hens, three grumpy old aunts with a tender heart, the pigs, husband and wife, who become affectionate and inseparable adoptive parents and the stork, tireless traveler who knows the world, ideal of beauty and freedom. The relationships that are established between the characters, have an evolution that goes hand in hand with the growth of the protagonist and with the most important event in the whole story, the loss of the beak.
The metaphor of the animal world helps to tackle important issues such as diversity, disability and the importance of being welcomed, accepted and desired with the right lightness but with depth, despite a different physicality or a different ability to those considered “normal” “.
