1500 people involved, 10 floats, more than 15 masked groups, 30 quintals of confetti, music bands, majorettes: these are just some numbers of the 192nd Spoleto Carnival that will take place from 15 to 25 February 2020. The initiative was presented this morning at the Sala dello Spagna at the presence of Councillor for Culture Ada Urbani, of Councillor for the Environment Maria Rita Zengoni and of the President of the Associazione Manifestazioni Spoletine Angelo Gelmetti.
This year’s Carnival will foster sustainability and respect for the environment. The municipality has provided confetti and streamers done with recycled paper, has established the “green wagon” and, in collaboration with Valle Umbra Servizi s.p.a., has set up information points for the separate collection of waste (plastic bags, spray cans and bottles) in addition to a collection point at the end of the parade.
The event is included in the city’s 2020 sustainability agenda, with which the city, certified EMAS, wants to spread the activities and improvement actions in terms of environmental protection, improvement of the quality of life, livability of the city and of the territory.
These are the masked groups and the theme of the floats that will participate in the 2020 edition of the Carnival of Spoleto:
