Visioni d’Autore: film director Gianluca De Serio presents “Spaccapietre”

Cinéma Sala Pegasus, Thursday 1 October at 21.00

After months of hiatus due to the lockdown, ‘Visioni d’Autore‘ returns at the Cinéma Sala Pegasus on Thursday 1 October at 21.00 with the sixth meeting of the year, the first of the new 2020/21 film season.

Gianluca De Serio, director of the film “Spaccapietre“, shot together with his twin brother Massimiliano and presented in competition at the Venice Days during the 77th Venice Film Festival, will be the guest of honour.

The film stars Salvatore Esposito (of Gomorra fame) and features a soundtrack by Gatto Ciliegia contro il Grande Freddo, also in Venice with Susanna Nicchiarelli’s “Miss Marx”.

The two directors presented their film at the Venice Film Festival in this way:

Art and personal biography are inseparably intertwined in Spaccapietre. The story at the centre of the film is inspired by a news item from a few summers ago, the death of the Apulian labourer Paola Clemente at work, and by the absurd coincidence with the death of our paternal grandmother, who died working in the same fields in 1958. And, like Giuseppe’s father in the film, our paternal grandfather, before leaving for Turin in the 1960s, was also a ‘stone breaker’. The film is first and foremost an attempt to regain possession of a soul, that of our grandmother we never knew, through the story and body of another woman. But it is also a film of paternal love in which the themes of death, violence, fear, love and revenge all come to the surface.

Cinema expert and trainer Roberto Lazzerini will lead a Q&A session at the end of the screening Q&A by Roberto Lazzerini. Tickets available in advance during the opening hours and online at cinemasalapegasus.it.
