For visits on the weekend, it is necessary to reserve at least one day prior

Spoleto’s museums reopen to the public. From Friday 30 April, Palazzo Collicola, the Roman House and the church of SS. Giovanni a Paolo will once again be open to visitors after the closures of recent months due to the measures for the prevention and management of the COVID epidemiological emergency, thanks also to the economic support of the Fondazione Carispo which has supported the city administration and Sistema Museo in relation to the costs of the reopening in May.

At Palazzo Collicola, the exhibitions Ugo La Pietra: Arte e Territori and Giorgio Griffa: Tutti i pensieri di tutti reopen to the public; inaugurated on 31 October 2020 and closed a few days later, they will be will be open on Fridays (3.30-7pm), Saturdays and Sundays (10.30-1pm – 3.30-7pm) . The two exhibitions investigate on the research of two masters of Italian modern art, active from the late 1960s to the present day, are curated by Marco Tonelli, Lorenzo Fiorucci and Davide Silvioli, with the collaboration of Studio La Pietra and the Griffa Archive, and with catalogues published by Manfredi Maretti.

The exhibition Giovanni Carandente: Archives and Documents, organised by the National Committee for the celebrations of the centenary of the birth of Giovanni Carandente, opens to the public for the first time. The exhibition takes place on two floors of the museum, between the Carandente Library on the Piano Nobile and the Modern Art Gallery of Palazzo Collicola. The main sections of the exhibition have been curated by Lorenzo Fiorucci, Antonella Pesola, Alessandro Carandente and Marco Tonelli, with the collaboration of architect Giorgio Flamini and the technical support of Emaki.

Visitors will be able to enjoy new displays of the collection, starting with the Spoleto Prize room with sculptures by Pascali, Ceroli, Uncini and Lorenzetti and the room dedicated to the six painters of the Spoleto Group. The sculpture Spoleto Circles, composed of two iron elements, by Richard Serra, created in 1972 and in Palazzo Collicola since 2000, has also been repositioned in its original location outside the museum.

The Roman House will be open on Fridays from 3 p.m. to 6.30 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1.30 p.m. and 3 p.m. to 6.30 p.m., while the Church of SS. Giovanni e Paolo will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
