RECOGNITION BY THE PRESIDENT OF THE REPUBLIC SERGIO MATTARELLA TO THE TEATRO LIRICO SPERIMETALE DI SPOLETO FOR 75 YEARS OF ACTIVITY
The 75th anniversary of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale “A. Belli” will be celebrated in Spoleto from 5 May to 31 October 2021. “The Teatro Lirico Sperimentale”, says General Manager Claudio Lepore, “has been an institution whose primary mission has been to research, train and accompany young talent. The constant attention to the contemporary music scene and the need to look to the future have made the Teatro Lirico of Spoleto a pivotal institution in the Italian cultural scene and beyond”.
The celebrations include the President of the Republic’s plaque, an important honour conferred by the President of the Republic, Sergio Mattarella. “It was an honour to receive this important recognition from the Head of State,” commented acting President Battistina Vargiu. “The significant attention given to us is a further incentive for a continuous and fruitful commitment in carrying out the planned activities and keeping the cultural and educational profile of the Institution high”.
The programme of activities is almost finalised. From May to August and in October the opera singers who won the European competitions will follow the activities of the School of national excellence operating in the field of high musical training. The activities will culminate in the 75th Experimental Opera Season of Spoleto and Umbria. Once again this year, the season will be held in Spoleto and in some of the most prestigious theatres in Umbria, mainly in September, with a preview in August as part of the events promoted by the City of Spoleto. Between the end of July and during the month of August, lyrical and vocal concerts are planned in Spoleto and in other towns in Umbria and Lazio.
Besides, a concert to celebrate the first 75 years of activity of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale will take place at the Teatro Nuovo in Spoleto on Thursday 9 September 2021, featuring former winners of the Spoleto Singing Competitions, now in their careers. Maestro Carlo Palleschi will conduct the Orchestra of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale “A. Belli”.
