The Langobards in Italy: Unesco’s 10th anniversary conference on the Basilica of San Salvatore

Wednesday 7 July at 11 a.m. live streaming on the YouTube channel of the City of Spoleto

The initiatives included in the programme “Langobards in Italy 2011-2021. A great, timeless people” to celebrate the tenth year since the inclusion of the serial site “The Langobards in Italy. The places of power (568-774 A.D.)” in the UNESCO World Heritage List continue.

After the opening of the exhibition “San Salvatore Armonie Imperfette” (San Salvatore Imperfect Harmonies) in the exhibition rooms of the former Monte di Pietà in Via Aurelio Saffi, which can be visited free of charge until 15 August (from Thursday to Sunday from 10.30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from 4.30 p.m. to 7 p.m.), on Wednesday 7 July at 11 a.m. there will be an online conference dedicated to the basilica of San Salvatore.

The meeting will feature the Special Commissioner of the City of Spoleto Tiziana Tombesi, the President of the Associazione Italia Langobardorum Rossella del Prete and the architect Giorgio Flamini.

There will also be speeches by the technicians of the Temporary Professional Grouping (RTP) Marco Balducci (engineer and RTP group leader), Margherita Agamennone Garibaldi (restorer and art historian) and Francesco Bartocci (engineer) who are working on the design for the seismic improvement of the San Salvatore basilica.

The conference, which will be streamed live on the YouTube channel of the City of Spoleto (https://bit.ly/3yi3Zxb) will be moderated by Angela Maria Ferroni, archaeologist at the General Secretariat of the Ministry of Culture.
