Festival of 2 Worlds: closing evening rescheduled at 18.30

Sunday 11 July starts with the Carla Fendi Prize, followed by the Festival’s final concert with the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia conducted by Pappano.

The last performance of Angelin Preljocaj’s Le Lac des cygnes is also brought forward to 4 p.m. to allow the public to reach Piazza Duomo in good time.

Following Italy’s victory in the semi-finals of the European Football Championships, the Festival dei Due Mondi Foundation has decided to bring forward the time of the closing concert of the 64th Spoleto Festival to allow the public to attend the final match on Sunday 11 July at 9 p.m. as well.

The evening will begin at 6.30 p.m. (instead of 8.30 p.m.) with the Carla Fendi Award Ceremony for Marina Mahler and Carol LeWitt. Following this, Antonio Pappano will conduct the Orchestra of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia in a programme that looks at the relationship between Two Worlds – East and West – and the reciprocal inspirations and suggestions. On the music stands is the Symphony from Rossini’s L’Italiana in Algeri, Rimsky-Korsakov’s symphonic suite Sheherazade, and the concerto for violin and orchestra 1001 Nights in the Harem by Turkish composer Fazıl Say, with soloist Friedemann Eichhorn. The concert ends at 8.30 pm. Purchased tickets remain valid. Admission times per sector are listed below.

The repeat performance on Sunday 11 July of Ballet Preljocaj’s Le Lac des cygnes, initially scheduled for 5 p.m., is also brought forward to 4 p.m. (duration 1 hour 50 minutes).

Purchased tickets remain valid, all spectators who have already purchased their tickets will be contacted by the ticket office of the Festival dei Due Mondi Foundation to inform them of the change of time.
