A Shared Christmas: concert by UmbriaEnsemble

Thursday 30 December at 17:30, Teatro Caio Melisso, Spoleto
“C’era una volta a Natale… Racconti tra Musica e Parole aspettando l’Anno Nuovo”

In its final hours, the year that draws to a close delivers a distillation of memories and images between satisfying balances and a few regrets, unfulfilled expectations and unexpected surprises, with which each of us has to come to terms. The year that is going away brings with it the awareness of what has been and, at the same time, the impetus towards a new opportunity with the year to come.

The days between Christmas and New Year’s Day are different from all the other days of the year: an atmosphere of expectation and lively tension permeates every moment of that suspended parenthesis of time that separates the past from the future; what has been, and can no longer return, and what is still to come. And this vibrant time lights up to the rhythm of music.

With two appointments in Perugia and Spoleto, UmbriaEnsemble bids farewell to this long and difficult 2021 in beauty, with the hope that the New Year will open under the benevolent star of rediscovered harmony, serenity, joy and hope.

On Thursday 30 December, at 5.30 p.m., in the precious treasure chest of the 17th-century Caio Melisso Theatre – Spazio Carla Fendi, with the support of the City of Spoleto, UmbriaEnsemble will once again perform as a String Quartet in an original show, born of the collaboration with the Teodelapio Theatre School, which recounts – between music from the classical repertoire and original stories composed for the occasion by four Spoleto writers – the suspended atmosphere of the end-of-year festivities, with nostalgia and tenderness, irony and hope. A notebook of emotions, reflections, intentions, to dive together into the adventure of the New Year.
