New appointment with an all Made in Umbria original production: Sunday 13 February at the Teatro Caio Melisso (5 pm), with the patronage of the City of Spoleto, ‘Diversi da loro’, new show of the collective ‘La Ragione di Stato’, an evocative, biting and participatory narrative-musical chronicle of Italian sporting victories in the summer of 2021.

After “R1KORDAMI “, a second Umbria on Stage production by Athanor Eventi is scheduled at the Teatro Caio Melisso: the new, biting project by southern Umbria collective ‘La Ragione di Stato’. The formation deals with sports (in particular, football) and national political events, and their tragicomic combination. The activities of ‘La Ragione di Stato’ are divided into two areas: the Facebook page of the same name, which offers a satirical daily chronicle of the most important sporting and footballing events, and theatre and stand-up comedy shows.

This new production, scheduled to take place at the Caio Melisso Theatre on 13 February at 5 p.m., is entitled “Diversi da loro”, and is a partial and participatory chronicle of Italian victories in the summer of 2021.

The show follows the thread that leads from Måneskin’s musical victory at Eurovision 2021 to the Italian triumphs at the Tokyo Olympics. At the centre, the 2020-2021 European Soccer Championship: their protagonists on and off the field; the real and imaginary plots; the reconstruction of a path marked by obstacles, injuries, strokes of luck and more or less predictable heroes.

In recounting the unforgettable summer of 2021, the show brings to the forefront the difficulty of drawing a thin but very important line: the line that divides the healthy, sectarian, goliardic spontaneous collective enthusiasm in the face of the national team’s exploits, and that irritating, ludicrous sense of superiority that makes us feel “different from them”.

The stars on stage will be Stefano Mondi narrator, Matteo Santarelli on guitar, Giulio Catarinelli on electric bass and Francesco Guarino on percussion.

Among the shows conceived and produced by La Ragione di Stato are the series “Notti tragiche”, dedicated to the unfortunate world expeditions of the Italian national team in the 1990s, and “Innamorato del mondo”, a brief biographical reconstruction of the profile of the American singer-songwriter Elliot Smith.
