On Saturday 26 February at 11.00 a.m., artistic director Marco Tonelli presented the 2022 Palazzo Collicola exhibitions programme to the press, in the presence of the Councillor for Culture Danilo Chiodetti.

The presentation was also the occasion to introduce two volumes dedicated to the centenary of Giovanni Carandente and two exhibitions’ catalogues: A Life for Art.Proceedings of the Conference and Archives and Documents, Catalogue of the exhibition, edited by the National Committee for the celebrations of the birth of Giovanni Carandente (Silvana Editoriale) and the catalogues of Vittorio Messina. Dishabitat (Gli Ori Edizioni) and Cannavacciuolo/Massini. Ma non ho bicchieri come i tuoi (Sponsored by Amici di Palazzo Collicola).

The figures for the three-year period June 2019 – November 2021, taking into account that the museum has been closed for 11 months due to lockdown and Covid, and excluding the new refurbishment of the Modern Art Gallery collection, can be summarised as follows:

• 15 temporary exhibitions
• 15 catalogues published
• 20 new works acquired
• 800 donations to the Carandente Library
• 3 MIBACT tenders won

2022 EXHIBITIONS SCHEDULE

26 March – 29 May

• Mark Francis: Re-Echo (Modern Art Gallery, curated by Marco Tonelli). English painter featured at the New York MET di New York, V&A Museum, Tate Gallery and British Museum in London, UK (with the support of Galleria Luca Tommasi Arte Contemporanea)
• Matteo Montani (site specific intervention in the Modern Art Gallery’s halls, curated by Davide Silvioli). Young painter among the most promising on the Italian scene
• Tribute to Vasco Bendini: collection of Palazzo Collicola (curated by Lorenzo Fiorucci)

23 June – 25 September

• Fabrizio Plessi. Theatre scenographies (ground floor). Italy’s most important video artist at international level exhibits his projects, videos and photos of the most important sets created for theatre, dance and opera. Exhibition organised in collaboration with the Academy of Fine Arts of Venice.
• Collezione Attolico. Works from the Attolico Collection by Italian artists (Burri, Manzoni, Castellani, Agnetti, Alviani, De Dominicis, Schifano, Kounellis, Arienti, Vezzoli, Campanini). With the support of Elena Attolico (President of the Amici di Palazzo Collicola association)
• Antonio Rezza and Flavia Mastrella: Euforia Carogna. Stage sculptures, photographs, videos and installations by the two theatre artists and performers, invited in parallel to the Festival dei due Mondi, will be exhibited at the Piano Nobile
• EM Library (Carandente Library exhibiting space). In collaboration with and curated by Studio Eliseo Mattiacci: thematic, instagram-accessible archive of the artist who died in 2019, of whom Palazzo Collicola owns three works
• Dynamic and luminous installation by Vittorio Corsini entitled Sotto luce (Under the light), which will be installed in the space of the former bar of Palazzo Collicola

29 October 2022 – 29 January 2023

• Renato Ranaldi (curated by Bruno Corà and David Palterer), Florentine painter and sculptor, invited by Carandente to the Venice Biennale in 1988.
• Mino Trafeli (Piano Nobile) sculptor from Volterra whose birth centenary falls in 2022. Exhibition of sculptures with the collaboration of the Trafeli Archive.
