Two compositions by contemporary Italian musicians will be premiered: one for cello solo, by Maestro Paolo Rotili, President of Nuova Consonanza and professor at the Conservatory of Latina; the other for cello and piano by Maestro Paolo Andriotti, for years first cello in the Orchestra del Teatro Vittorio Emanuele in Messina and now professor at the Conservatorio Umberto Giordano in Foggia.

Alongside this important musical innovation, the programme includes pieces by Hindemith (3 Leichte Stücke), Webern (Tre Piccoli Pezzi and the Sonata for cello and piano), Debussy (Sonata for cello and piano) and Stravinsky (Suite italienne). This is a complex and stimulating programme because, alongside the music of the 20th century masters who contributed to the renewal of musical language, laying the foundations of modern music, it will be possible to listen to the music of two contemporary masters who, although on different lines and concepts, have continued along the same path.

The concert is organised by the Associazione Officina d’Arte e Tessuti in Spoleto, which joins the gallery of the same name in Via Plinio il Giovane and inherits its activity in the musical field.

The one on 15 May is the second in the series that began last 10 April with a focus on the Italian twentieth century and will continue until December 2023, coinciding with the 3rd Biennale of Fiber Art. The performers are Paolo Andriotti on cello, Lucia Sorci on piano. Curated by Pierfrancesco and Fabio Caprio.
