2022 European Days Of Archaeology

On the occasion of the 2022 European Archaeology Days, which will be held on 17-18-19 June, Sistema Museo offers a calendar of guided tours aimed at narrating the most ancient phases of the millenary history of Spoleto and the Tempietto sul Clitunno, in collaboration with the cities of Spoleto and Campello sul Clitunno and the Regional Directorate Musei dell’Umbria – Rocca Albornoz – National Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto and the Tempietto sul Clitunno.

The first event, entitled Memorie che riaffiorano (Resurfacing Memories), will take place at the Casa Romana on Friday 17 at 7 p.m. and will focus on the figure of Giuseppe Sordini, the archaeologist from Spoleto who made a decisive contribution to the preservation and enhancement of the city’s historical and artistic heritage.

On Saturday 18 at 4.30 p.m., the Rocca Albornoz will host Spoleto capitale longobarda (Spoleto, the Lombard capital), a tour that will take you on a discovery of the precious early medieval artefacts housed in the National Museum of the Duchy.

On Sunday 19 at 11.00 a.m. from the Roman House will start Viaggio nella Spoleto romana, a trekking included in the Spoleto Card programme, while at 3.00 p.m. at the Tempietto di Campello sul Clitunno will take place Un monumento che affascina da secoli, a guided tour to discover the Longobard-era sacellum, a World Heritage Site.

On Friday 17 June, after the guided tour of the Roman house, it will be possible to end the evening with an aperitif at an additional cost of € 5.00 per person.

The number of participants is limited and reservations are compulsory. Participation in the activities requires compliance with the current Covid-19 regulations.
