Music, readings, opera, nature and theatre for children

Five weeks into ‘Accade d’estate a Spoleto’, the meetings for families and children up to 10 years of age organised by the ‘G. Carducci’ City Library continue at the Chico Mendes Park. The meeting on Tuesday 9 August at 6 p.m. is dedicated to the moon and the stars, and includes readings from L’omino, un gatto e le stelle by Alberto Benevelli, Voglio la luna by Umberto Guidoni and Andrea Valente, and Una stella da salvare by Paola Savinelli.

Wednesday 10 August at 9.00 pm in the courtyard of the church of San Lorenzo in Maiano, ‘Paesi in versi’ is back with ‘Il fascino della notte di San Lorenzo’, based on scripts by Dante, Pascoli, Ungaretti, Borges, Pessoa, Evtushenko, Baratynskij and Trilussa.

Thursday 11 at 5.30 pm at Palazzo Collicola and at the G. Carandente Library two creative workshops will be held, ‘Aspettando la magia dello spettacolo’, organised by Sistema Museo in collaboration with Direzione Regionale Musei dell’Umbria – Rocca Albornoz – Museo Nazionale del Ducato di Spoleto e Tempietto sul Clitunno, the cities of Spoleto and of Campello sul Clitunno, included in ‘Famiglie ad Arte 2022 – Speciale estate al museo!’, a programme of activities and creative workshops aimed at families with children from 4 to 11 years old.

On Thursday 11 at 6.30 pm, Teatro Incantato returns, the theatrical review dedicated to children and families. This week it will be the turn of Carosello, by Teatro Due Mondi, a travelling show that starts from the courtyard of Palazzo Collicola and will stop in piazza Montiroli, piazzetta Porta di San Lorenzo, via Vittori and return to Palazzo Collicola. The performance, included in the project ‘Sorrisi Festival, spettacoli all’insegna della leggerezza‘, stages the characters from the popular fairy tale ‘The Bremen Town Musicians‘ to tell a new, contemporary story, set in the streets of the cities of Europe, and is built on a modular structure with scenes that can be combined in different ways depending on the characteristics of the location.

The 76th Opera Season of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale kicks off with three appointments scheduled at the Teatro Caio Melisso. On Thursday 11th in a preview at 8.30 pm, on Friday 12th at 6 pm and on Saturday 13th August at 12 noon and 8.30 pm, Eine Kleine Musik 2022 will stage ‘La Tragédie de Carmen‘ by Marius Constant, Jean-Claude Carrière and Peter Brook.

At the Fattoria Sociale in Protte, on Friday 12 starting at 8 p.m. there will be ‘Lupus in fabula: stories of full moon‘, a dinner by moonlight with a performance directed by L.G. Santiago, followed by a performance by Martha Clarke of La MaMa Re_Main – Entry Book 2022.

Also back is ‘Street Lessons, Space Readings’, Saturday 13 August at 6 p.m. in Morgnano di Spoleto with writer Angelo Ferracuti, who will entertain the audience on the theme of ‘Workers’ Cultures‘ in front of Pozzo Orlando, a relic of industrial archaeology and today a museum of lignite mines.

Also on Saturday 13, in the piazza of Rapicciano at 9 p.m., there will be a concert entitled ‘La Muerte Del Ángel’ by Umbria Ensemble – Suoni di boschi e d’abbazie, with music by Piazzolla and Puccini.

The events at the Casina dell’Ippocatano of the 40th edition of the ‘Ferragosto Spoletino‘ organised by the Proloco di Spoleto continue until 15 August.
