Ferragosto Chronicles

Enthusiastic audience and packed venues for the Ferragosto events

Excellent response from the public for the initiatives scheduled between 12 and 15 August in the various locations.

The Teatro Caio Melisso – Spazio Carla Fendi, sold out in every order, saw the start of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale Opera Season with the highly appreciated La Tragédie de CARMEN. Between Friday 12 and Saturday 13 August, with the theatre packed with Italian and foreign tourists, music lovers and opera lovers, three performances were held.

The evening organised by the Social Farm in Protte, which hosted ‘Lupus in fabula: Full Moon Stories‘, a moonlight dinner with a performance directed by L.G. Santiago and a performance by Martha Clarke of La MaMa Re_Main – Entry Book 2022, was also well attended.

Also on the occasion of the last of the three appointments of ‘Street Lectures, Space Readings‘, the public attended in large numbers the meeting with writer Angelo Ferracuti, a conversation on ‘Workers’ Cultures‘ organised in front of Pozzo Orlando, a relic of industrial archaeology and today a museum of lignite mines.

The first of Umbria Ensemble‘s three musical appointments took place in the evocative square of Rapicciano (the next ones are ‘The Magic Flute‘, scheduled for 20 August at 7 p.m. at the Roof Garden, and ‘The Blue Angel‘, a dawn concert at the Rocca Albornoz on 27 August at 6.40 a.m.). The magical location and the masterful performance of music by Piazzolla and Puccini were the distinguishing features of the ‘La Muerte Del Ángel‘ concert.

The weekend then ended in a Casina dell’Ippocastano full of Spoleto residents and tourists for the 40th edition of the ‘Ferragosto Spoletino‘ organised by the Proloco di Spoleto.
