21 October – 18 November
Teatro Caio Melisso – Spazio Carla Fendi

Visioninmusica and the city of Spoleto together again to seal the third edition of an important musical event, Spoleto Jazz 2022, which this year includes three appointments in the splendid setting of the Teatro Caio Melisso – Spazio Carla Fendi, scheduled from 21 October to 18 November.
Always ready to welcome events of high musical calibre and open to experimentation and innovative projects, this time Spoleto Jazz is focusing on young musicians, presenting three artists who are already regarded internationally as jazz stars.

Opening the event on Friday 21 October (9pm) will be the phenomenal guitarist from Palermo, Matteo Mancuso, with his Trio. Critically acclaimed and hailed by world-famous musicians such as Steve Vai, Al Di Meola, Joe Bonamassa and Stef Burns, Mancuso is at home on both classical and electric guitar, on which he has developed a personal playing technique entirely with his fingers, which underlines his originality. With Riccardo Oliva on bass and Gianluca Pellerito on drums, Mancuso will showcase all his skill, talent and technical ability, moving as always between different styles: rock, fusion and electric blues. In his repertoire he will present covers close to his heart, but also original and unreleased tracks from his forthcoming debut album, which will be released by the end of 2022.

On Thursday 3 November (9 p.m.), Anthony Strong, a pianist and singer from London, will take the stage at the Caio Melisso. He is an ‘English gentleman’ from another era, with an understated charm and an unmistakable vocal style. His early passion for Oscar Peterson, Bill Evans and Wynton Kelly led him in the footsteps of Frank Sinatra, Mel Tormé and Nat King Cole. An artist with an impeccable swinging style, he is considered the new superstar of mainstream British jazz. Anthony has been performing live intensely since 2012 on the most prestigious stages in Europe. He has performed in 26 countries on 4 continents, in prestigious venues such as the Centro Cultural de Belém in Lisbon, the French Jazz in Marciac festival, the Marina Bay Sands in Singapore and the Litchfield Festival in the US and has performed with artists such as Michael Bolton, Marti Pellow, Beverley Knight and Kyle Eastwood and on every major UK TV channel.

Concluding the Festival on Friday 18 November (9 p.m.) will be another great international talent, Jesús Molina, Colombian but resident in Los Angeles, who with his quartet will perform a mixed repertoire of traditional jazz, with his arrangements of pieces by Chick Corea, John Coltrane and Dizzy Gillespie, ragtime and stride jazz piano, along with pieces in which his solo voice will also be heard. Molina is an unstoppable artist, with a wide-ranging creative and musical spectrum that counts him as a contemporary jazz artist, but with modern jazz and gospel sounds, which he skilfully blends. In 2016, Molina received the prestigious Latin Grammy Cultural Foundation Awards and is, to date, one of the rising stars of the international jazz scene. Although very young, he has shared the stage with some of the greatest musicians in the industry such as Jordan Rudess, Noel Schajris, Marco Minnemann, Rudy Perez, Eric Marienthal, Gabriela Soto, Randy Brecker, Carlitos Del Puerto, Randy Waldman, Zedd, Jesus Adrian Romero, and John Patitucci. At only 26 years of age, the artist has signed five albums and ‘Agape’ is the latest work released.
