Saturday 3 December at Spoleto, Teatro Caio Melisso – Spazio Carla Fendi, the string orchestra Poggio Dimadis will perform excerpts from DiVino Amore,

“Life – just like good wine – is full of wonderful surprises. They can occur anytime”. Dimitri Dimadis as a talented musician discovered himself passionate about the land and good wine and decided to combine these two worlds in a unique musical and oenological project.

“Back in 2001, being part Greek, part Dutch and part Austrian, I never expected to move my family home to the Umbrian hills. And being a professional rock musician made me an unlikely tenant of a winery. I knew Italy was the birthplace of opera, but I did not realise I had reached the place where wine and music coexist in perfect harmony. I had found my creative home. Creativity places no limits on its inspiration. I decided to try something new and the vineyard became my obsession. It took years to master traditions and harness modern innovation. But despite the distractions of planting, pruning, harvesting and pressing, I began to hear music about love lost and found. My passion and care were rewarded. The wine sang to me, opera rather than rock, endless and poignant arias. The Umbrian hills literally came alive to the sound of music, prompting me to write an opera about wine and love, the music in front of you. I humbly invite you to experience the double fruit of my labours, to experience the fusion of my two great passions: wine and music. This is the moment of surprise: savour the music and listen to the wine. Cheers!”.

Nothing more shall we add, because we believe that the very discovery of this sensory marriage must be experienced with the same curiosity that drove Dimitri to Umbria. The Poggio Dimadis Orchestra will play at the Caio Melisso Theatre in Spoleto for the first time the new chapter of the work that Dimitri has dedicated to his wine with two performances: the first performance at 3.30 p.m., an aperitif with a tasting of the new vintage and a concert to follow, the repetition will be at 7 p.m. and this will be followed by a gala dinner at the Ex Museo Civico spaces.
