Spoleto, 30 Jan 2023 – On Wednesday, 1 February, the Festival Of Two Worlds remembers its founder Gian Carlo Menotti, on the occasion of the 16th anniversary of his death, with the extraordinary opening of the exhibition The Menotti Years 1958-1998 at the former Monte di Pietà palace in via Saffi, in the new layout curated by Piero Maccarinelli and Monica Trevisani.

| Admission is free, the exhibition is open from 11 am to 7 pm. On this occasion, the public will be able to visit the exhibition accompanied by the curator, with an account of the heritage recovery project launched by the Foundation over the past two years. A celebratory moment is scheduled at 11.00 a.m. in the presence of the President of the Foundation and Mayor of Spoleto Andrea Sisti and Councillor Danilo Chiodetti. |

The new setting provides an insight into the personal universe of the Festival’s founder, through previously unpublished photos, films, posters and original programmes, which recount the Festival’s atmosphere in those years. The extraordinary richness of the productions of Menotti’s period is testified by the exhibition of the costumes of L’italiana in Algeri of 1969, Amahl and the Night Visitors of 1996 and Nose of 1995. Thanks to the collaboration with the Istituto Luce, which made unpublished material available, 40 photographs are exhibited that restore the worldly and international spirit of the ‘Menotti years’.

The exhibition is part of the recovery and enhancement project launched by the Festival Of Two Worlds’ Foundation over the last two years. The opening of the exhibition routes during the winter allows the public, tourists and visitors to learn and appreciate the immense heritage of stage costumes, photographs, documents and films that tell the story of the Festival.
