The young dancers and choreographers Bassam Abou Diab and Mounir Saeed will perform at Cantiere Oberdan on Thursday 21 September at 21.30, for Focus young arab choreographers, a project in support of intercultural dialogue, supported by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage and Tourism in collaboration with 11 Italian partners.
Two performances in an evening.
Under The Flesh by and with Bassam Abou Diab (Lebanon) presents a study focusing on cultures, body, death and rituals. Samah Tarabay, percussionist, will accompany him in the performance.
What about Dante by and with Mounir Saeed (Egypt) is a work inspired by the Inferno of Dante’s Divine Comedy, mixed with the spiritualism of Sufism and the musicality of Christian hymns and oriental songs, aiming at a fusion between different cultures’ spirituality.
On September 22nd and 23rd, 2017, the San Nicolò Cloister in Spoleto will host The Neurons of Jac & Co., a two-day event dedicated to comics and animation cinema.

LECTURAE DANTIS 2017
From 6 October to 21 December at the Public Library, Palazzo Mauri
After the success of the last years, the integral reading of Dante’s Divine Comedy resumes from October 6 to December 21, each Friday afternoon at 17 by the Public library in Palazzo Mauri; this leg includes the reading of 11 cantos from the Paradise, from the XIIth to the XXIInd.
Readings will be by actor Claudio Trionfi, with comments by academics co-ordinated by professor Rodney John Lokaj.
During the event, (October through December) some editions of the Divine Comedy owned by the Public Library will be on display, including the 1484 Venetian incunabulus commented by Cristoforo Landino (1424 – 1498).
Nine cycles of reading have already taken place, that featured the first two canticas, and Hell’s first 11 cantos. The experience shows the modern interest in Dante and his work.
Lectura Dantis is a specific form of divulgation à haute voix, historically well defined and codified, which originated in the XIVth century thanks to Giovanni Boccaccio, and evolved through the ages, yet respecting the traditional interconnection between verse reading and exegetical comment.

Friday 20 October 2017 at 17 by Palazzo Leti Sansi (Via Arco di Druso), Dutch journalist Maarten van Aalderen will present his books Il bello dell’Italia and Talenti d’Italia (Albeggi ed.).
While Italy is facing a dire crisis, Il Bello dell’Italia (Italian for: “The Beauty of Italy”) tries to unleash the energy to cheer up. Maarten van Aalderen asked a group of fellow foreign journalists what do they like best of Italy. A passionate collective “chant” of opinions, sensations and experience is the outcome, the story of a wonderous country by the many resources. Il Bello dell’Italia is a book that Italians can be proud of. Talenti d’Italia is also a trip through the excellent emergences of Italy, through 21 interviews, 21 stories of passion, 21 lives consecrated to cinema, music, sport. These young talents, mostly in their twenties and thirties, describe their staircase to success and to international acknowledgement.
A careful observer of the Bel paese, 52 yo Dutch journalist Maarten van Aalderen has been living in Italy since 1990, working for the main Dutch newspaper, De Telegraaf, which also assigned him to Turkey and Greece. His main distress about Italy is that Italy just cannot promote herself or even nurture her own talents, and this is the reason that led him to write his Il bello dell’Italia on such theme. But with his second work, Talenti d’Italia, he went even farther.
Attendees include journalists Italo Carmignani and Roberto Conticelli, Amici di Spoleto president Dario Pompili, Spoleto mayor Fabrizio Cardarelli, head of Instruction and Formation Maria Elena Bececco, head of Culture Camilla Laureti, Bonifica Umbra director Candia Marcucci, CaRiSpo president Sergio Zinni, and president of the “Francesca, Valentina e Luigi Antonini” Foundation Camillo Corsetti Antonini.
