Mezz’ora dopo la chiusura, the event curated by Sistema Museo, dedicates a series of events to Capolavori del Trecento – Il cantiere di Giotto, Spoleto e l’Appennino, the great exhibition which is being held in 4 different Umbrian towns and features over 70 works from prestigious national and international collections.
The second meeting in collaboration with the National Museum of the Duchy of Spoleto is focused on the Maestro di Sant’Alò, another of the many artists, often anonymous, who became interpreters of the deepest and truest soul of the Apennines.

On the places of “Don Matteo” TV series
Mezz’ora dopo la chiusura, the weekly event organized by Sistema Museo, waits for you on Friday 24 August 2018 at 19.30 for a special city tour dedicated to Don Matteo TV series.
Walking through the historic centre of the city you will discover the places where Don Matteo, one of the most popular Italian TV series, was shot. The itinerary will be framed by the famous Piazza Duomo, charming location of many scenes, and by the beautiful view of the Ponte delle Torri and the Rocca Albornoziana.

In the frame of Le Quattro Stagioni – Spoleto d’Estate, the chamber music group Umbria Ensemble proposes two Concerti dell’alba at the Rocca Albornoziana.
The first one will take place on Saturday 11 August at 6.10, a tribute to Leonard Bernstein on the occasion of the hundredth anniversary of the great composer’s birth.
The second one, Da Vivaldi ai Beatles, on Saturday 25 August at 6.25, will be a musical journey from Vivaldi to Boccherini, passing through some Beatles’ repertoire, reinterpreted by guitarist Leo Brouwer.

On the occasion of the great sporting event La SpoletoNorcia in MTB the Monumental Complex of San Nicolò will host from August 30 to September 2 an event focused on the great culinary tradition of Spoleto and its territory.
Four days dedicated to Umbrian food and wine, with conferences, exhibitions, live music, family and children corners and a fashion show.
Following last year’s success, with almost 2000 participants, central Italy’s largest cycling event La SpoletoNorcia… in MTB will return on Saturday 1st and Sunday 2nd 2018.
Bikers will have the possibility to choose among 4 different itineraries, according to their technical and athletic skills: the FAMILY route (the shortest, 14 km for 250 m of difference in height), within reach of all; the CLASSIC route, with three possibilities: Easy Route (40 km for 1,000 m of difference in height), Medium Route (45 km by 1.300 m of difference in height), Hard Route (50 km for 1,500 m of difference in height); the RANDONNEE (200 km for 3,500 mt of difference in height), open to FCI members or members of the Italian Consulta, competitive event without classification with road bikes, and the EXTREME (45 km with 2,000 m of difference in height), open only to FCI members or other members of the Italian Consulta.

1000 athletes for a great sport event
From 30 August to 2 September 2018, the project “SPORTGIVESCHANCE – Diabetics runners and cyclists for more sport for all in Europe” included in the ERASMUS + programme will involve more than 1000 athletes, 10 cities, a national network of sport and cultural associations, besides diabetics associations, 31 foreign bodies from 16 European countries, which will converge to downtown Spoleto and stroll through one of the most beautiful cycle ways of Italy, the Spoleto – Norcia former railway.

ABOUT
It is a sport event by the European scope, dedicated to the bicycle enthusiasts, open to diabetic and disabled participants, to sensitize the public opinion on sport and physical activity and promote health, well-being and social inclusion; it will take place in conjunction with two other big sport events open to amateurs and professionals, such as the SpoletoNorcia in MTB and the Spoleto Urban Crossing.

TO WHOM
Admitted participants will be diabetics who are members of sport associations (amateurs or professionals alike) and handbikers. Various routes will be included, on the flat or uphill, with various difficulty grades (e-bikes admitted). All info will be uploaded on the websites of the two events.

INCLUDED BENEFITS
As for the costs, the City of Spoleto guarantees:
- for the 400 athletes + 20 experts from Umbria, board for 4 days – Thu 30 August through Sun 2 September, 2018;
- for the 200 athletes + 10 experts from Emilia Romagna, Liguria,Toscana, Marche, Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise, board and lodging for 4 days – Thu 30 August through Sun 2 September, 2018;
- for the 100 athletes + 4 experts from the rest of Italy, besides board and lodging for the four days, travel expenses will also be reimbursed (180,00€ per pax).
The above mentioned financing will be available as long as seats last. Reservation will have to be done on the events’ websites. Participation in the event requires the payment of the registration fee, which will ensure access to other services which are not provided for by the ERASMUS project, such as insurance, refreshments, a parcel with technical equipment for the races, and local products.

“Deposito d’Autore” – 10 artists to recall the relationship between Giovanni Carandente and Spoleto
Event organized by Sistema Museo
Sistema Museo, in collaboration with Casa Menotti, presents Friday, August 31, 2018 at 19.00 a special appointment of “Mezz’ora dopo la chiusura” entitled Deposito d’Autore – 10 artists to recall the relationship between Giovanni Carandente and Spoleto.
The meeting will be focused on the ten works on paper exhibited in the beautiful setting of Casa Menotti, thanks to the collaboration between Gianluca Marziani and the Monini family.
Afro, Burri, Capogrossi, Ceroli, Chadwick, Chillida, Consagra, Leoncillo, Melotti, Moore are the authors of the drawings and prints donated to Giovanni Carandente, to underline the friendship between the art critic and the greatest artists of the 20th century.
The appointment for the guided tour is at 19.00 at Casa Menotti – Piazza Duomo.

On Friday 7 September, starting at 16.00, the Disfida degli arcieri delle Vaite (Challenge of the archers of the Vaite) will be held. The event is organised by Ente Ducale le Vaite and Compagnia Arcieri Due Mondi and sponsored by the Municipality of Spoleto.
The historical parade (consisting of about 50 participants) will leave at 16.00 from Piazza del Mercato and will wind along Via dei Duchi, Via Saffi, Via dell’Arringo, Piazza Duomo, Via del Duomo, Via W. The winner of the challenge will be awarded during the Renaissance dinner starting at 20.30 in Piazza del Mercato.

Mezz’ora dopo la chiusura, the event by Sistema Museo, waits for you on Friday 7 September 2018 at 19.30 at the Roman House for a city walk called The magic of sunset.
An expert guide will accompany you on a panoramic walk around the fortress that will allow you to admire with new eyes the famous monuments of Spoleto and learn about interesting stories and anecdotes about the city.
The visit will be followed by an aperitive.

The 2018 Spoleto Opera Season, conceived for the winners of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale’s competitions, stages once more operas from various periods, from the 18th century to nowadays, across various subgenres: opera, intermezzo buffo, lieder, opéra-comique.
On September 7 (20.30), 8 (20.30) and 9 (17.30) the Teatro Caio Melisso will be the location for Lontano da qui, by winner of the 2016 Abbiati Prize Filippo Perocco, on a libretto by Riccardo Fazi.
The work is a reflection on changes, uncertainty and rebirth, dedicated to the people from the Valnerina, who will enjoy a specially dedicated performance on 6 September at 20.30.
Singers include Daniela Nineva (mezzosoprano), Emanuela Sgarlata (soprano) and Livia Rado (soprano), flanked by the Ensemble strumentale del Teatro Lirico Sperimentale and Ensemble L’Arsenale.

The Chorakademie together with the string orchestra “Gaia Ferretti”, conducted by Bodo Bischoff, will perform music by Cesar Franck, Joseph Rheinberger, John Rutter.
Presentation and readings by art historian Mirko Baldassarre. Readings from texts by Dante Alighieri and Francesco Petrarca.
The “Internationale Chor- und Orchesterakademie”, an important German musical association, was founded in Berlin in 1991 by Prof. Dr. Bodo Bischoff and collaborates with singers and instrumentalists from Italy, France, Lithuania, Russia, China, Switzerland, Austria and Germany who, after a period of retreat, publicly present the works studied together.
The Spiritual Elevation, sponsored by the City of Spoleto and supported by the Department of Culture, is organized by many cultural associations including the FIDAPA BPW Italy, section of Spoleto.

The opening of the exhibition Ossa, featuring works by Alberto Emiliano Durante, will take place on Sunday, September 16 at 18, at the ADD-art gallery in Spoleto.
Ossa is a project on which the artist has worked for more than a year and which will be shared with the public for the first time. A research on ‘primitive’ materials, marble, wood and iron, which have always shaped idols, warriors and temples: archetypes that Durante explores in a contemporary key.
The value of the archetype and testimony of Durante’s works is confirmed by the genesis of the project: “While I was crossing the woods of Calcata I found numerous broken bones of animals. Looking at the white bones that emerged among the vegetation and trees, I perceived their purity and value as archetypes. It seemed that they were there to witness the passage of a past life, of an event that had taken place. The end and the beginning of a new path”. Ossa (Bones) is therefore the title chosen for this project, because it refers to the load-bearing structure of the individual, to what remains even beyond life, but also and above all to one of the first materials manipulated by Man for ritual and artistic purposes.
This new creative rite, primitive but permeated by a completely contemporary creativity, lives again today in the premises of ADD-art and will remain open until November 30.

The 2018 Spoleto Opera Season, conceived for the winners of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale’s competitions, stages once more operas from various periods, from the 18th century to nowadays, across various subgenres: opera, intermezzo buffo, lieder, opéra-comique.
On September 14 (21.00), 15 (21.00) and 16 (17.00) the Teatro Caio Melisso will be the location for La furba e lo sciocco, 18th-century intermezzo buffo on a libretto by Tommaso Mariani and music by Domenico Sarri.
Singers include soprano Susanna Wolff and baritone Paolo Ciavarelli, flanked by the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale Instrumental Ensemble..

Singers include Zdislava Bočková, Emanuel Bussaglia, Alessandro Fiocchetti, Daniela Nineva e Susanna Wolff, who’ll perform gypsy folk songs by Dmitri Šostakovič, Johannes Brahms, Antonin Dvořák and Robert Schumann.

The 2018 Spoleto Opera Season, conceived for the winners of the Teatro Lirico Sperimentale’s competitions, stages once more operas from various periods, from the 18th century to nowadays, across various subgenres: opera, intermezzo buffo, lieder, opéra-comique.
On September 7 (20.30), 8 (20.30) and 9 (17.30) the Teatro Caio Melisso will be the location for Lontano da qui, by winner of the 2016 Abbiati Prize Filippo Perocco, on a libretto by Riccardo Fazi.
The work is a reflection on changes, uncertainty and rebirth, dedicated to the people from the Valnerina, who will enjoy a specially dedicated performance on 6 September at 20.30.
Singers include Daniela Nineva (mezzosoprano), Emanuela Sgarlata (soprano) and Livia Rado (soprano), flanked by the Ensemble strumentale del Teatro Lirico Sperimentale and Ensemble L’Arsenale.
The traditional opera that’ll be featured in the 2018 Opera Season is Giuseppe Verdi’s masterpiece La Traviata. Singers, choir and orchestra will be conducted by Carlo Palleschi.
