Like every year, the Spoleto Pro Loco has organized the event “Spoleto, the City in a Crib” that will last till Jan 14th, 2016, with the support of the City Spoleto, Region Umbria, Chamber of Commerce of Perugia and Regional School Office.

The highlight of this year’s edition is Europe’s Biggest Monumental Crib. The crib, by M° Mario Agrestini, is on display at the former City Museum; it is a historical, life-size crib in terracotta, wood and papier-mâché, inspired by XVth-cen artisan works. The crib reproduces the ancient farming world, and has been on display in a number of patrician houses in Tuscany and Umbria, and in Rome at the Sala del Campidoglio.

  “Looking at the small villages with all houses with their lights on, I thought that in every house there was a crib with the lights on, to instill joy in everyone’s heart through those tiny lights, symbols of rebirth and warmth. At last, it was enough to put the Nativity in.”
